Blood Resistance Isn't the Same as Viral Resistance
Two ASTM tests are commonly used to evaluate barrier performance in disposable protective clothing:

🩸 ASTM F1670 – Evaluates whether the material resists pe*******on by synthetic blood and other bodily fluids under laboratory test conditions.

🦠 ASTM F1671 – Evaluates whether the material also resists pe*******on by a viral surrogate used to simulate bloodborne pathogen pe*******on under laboratory test conditions.

Because viral testing is more stringent, materials that pass ASTM F1671 must also demonstrate resistance to synthetic blood pe*******on under ASTM F1670. Understanding the difference can help you select the right protective clothing for the hazards at hand.
