Mia’s is donating 50% of the profits from our Spring Love Gold Heart Earrings for the month to IOOV (In our own Voices Org Albany)

IOOV stands for In Our Own Voices, Inc. It is a grassroots, population-specific organization based in Albany, New York, that provides critical support services, advocacy, and a safe community space for LGBTQ+ Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) in the Capital Region. Operating out of 245 Lark Street, IOOV offers a wide range of vital resources:

Direct Services: Includes housing assistance, legal support, navigation of healthcare and social systems, culturally competent counseling, and emergency assistance like a food pantry.

Health & Wellness: Free and confidential HIV and Hepatitis C testing and screening, along with social support groups tailored to different demographics (e.g., transgender individuals, women who have s*x with women, and LGBTQ+ individuals over 50).Policy & Advocacy: Systemic advocacy focusing on health equity, voting rights, transgender rights protection, and reproductive justice.Community Events: IOOV hosts cultural and community events, including the annual Say It Loud! BIPOC Pride* celebration held in Washington Park.

The importance of showing up everyday as yourself is so important, what is more important is realizing that there are many of us who don’t feel comfortable in society being who we truly are.

We are here to remind everyone that Mia’s Is a place where everyone can feel included and comfortable in their own skin. A space where you can feel free to express yourself, a place where you can enjoy time with a loved one, doing normal activities and feel comfortable and welcome in a space where often times than not, many of us feel pushed out of. Shopping in a space where you know you’ll be listened to and loved is far more important to us than any gender, s*xuality or relationship preference. Being true to yourself will go further in life than anything else.
