So here's the mixed process piece I was working on yesterday, all stitched out onto the Ottertex waterproof canvas.

I am pretty happy with the result. I popped it out of the hoop just now to see how the stitches will react when they aren't being held smooth by the tension of the hoop. Crossing my fingers it will stay round and flat as it should be.

I won't be able to put a backing on these like I do with all of my other regular patches because of the nature of the heat transfer - yeah, very bad idea there.

I'm going to see what the schedule brings tomorrow, and try to get the one that was pressed onto the twill going... it will also be a good test of the repeatability of my centering skills.

Did I just get lucky with that first one or am I really that good at eyeballing lines and centers these days?
πŸ€” Humm... will know soon!

So I took on a new challenge here in the shop with a bit of help from my friend John Scarpino who hooked me up with the heat transfer, and my amazing digitizer Vitor Digitizing who did the embroidery design.

It is my very first embroidery with heat transfer background design merge πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ and I'll tell you what, centering this thing was not easy even a little bit, but I nailed it almost perfectly spot-on! Yes!

I am trying it out on both an Ottertex waterproof canvas (running now) and a white twill from Stahls to see which comes out better.

The design demo run had the bare minimum puckering, so I am very encouraged about the final outcome - which will probably have to wait until tomorrow to finish up, because I'm headed for the Bikers for B***s Night at the Races shortly.

Thanks Michael Marotta for the challenge, I've actually been thinking of doing a project like this for a while to check it out, and appreciate your interest in letting me give it a whirl for you.

More pictures to come when it is completed 😍

Happy Snowy St Patrick's Day Everyone!
Me in disguise as an Irish redhead in the wardrobe last week, lol.
I have been working on refreshing the thirty-some wigs that we have up there, some of them may be okay, some maybe too far gone πŸ˜ͺ

So I finally finished this project for meeee - yep, and the pile of mending is still sitting there πŸ€£πŸŽ‰

Shout out to my awesome Niece who fashioned the handles (blow that picture up and check them out - so cool), and also my friend Matt who owns The Little Dragons Hoarde Shop on Second St. in Barberton - for using his cobbler machine to get in there and stitch the lining - my machines are all too bulky to do that! 😲

Learned some sad news from him, after 6 years of being there, he is planning to close his shop thus month.
The good news is, he will be taking his operation home like I had to in 2020, and will be working from there πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ yeay!

He has been one of my two go-to guys for when a leather project comes in that doesn't really align with what I do myself.

He he he, made me chuckle remembering the first time I threaded a serger using a YouTube video.
Believe it or not, my big commercial embroidery machines are considerably easier to thread than my little Janome serger 😲
