What Hurricane Helene Left Us : Part 1
So let's start from the beginning.
Day 6 was the first time we were able to get down and check on our shop. Nothing could have prepared us for what we found. The devastation, the heartbreak, and the overwhelming reality of what Hurricane Helene had left behind.
Like so many others in our community, we stood there trying to process it all. The damage wasn't just to buildings and belongings—it was to lives, dreams, and a way of life we had worked so hard to build.
For months, we've focused on helping others, putting our community first, and doing whatever we could to make a difference. We stayed quiet about our own struggles because there were bigger needs all around us.
Now, it's time to heal.
It's time to share our story—the challenges, the losses, the victories, and the incredible acts of kindness that carried us through some of our darkest days.
This is where our journey begins. Not to dwell on the destruction, but to remember how far we've come, honor those who stood beside us, and show what resilience, faith, and community truly look like.
The road hasn't been easy, but we're still here. And our story is just beginning.

We've kept quiet for so long because we chose to put community before ourselves. In those moments, helping others mattered more than telling our own story.

Now that healing has finally begun for so many, maybe it’s time for us to heal too. Maybe it’s finally time for our story to be told.

60 Minutes opened a can of worms, but it failed to truly highlight the goodness, strength, love, and unity that came out of the ugly storm handed to our community. Yes, there were problems, pain, and hard truths — but there were also neighbors helping neighbors, people sacrificing everything for one another, and a community fighting every single day to survive and rebuild and we could have not done this without the help of all our amazing VOLUNTEERS.❤️

We will prevail.The truth will be told.And we will rise above this — stronger together than ever before. ✌️❤️🦇

What part of “we are still recovering” do some folks not understand?
This isn’t a racetrack. People live and work here every single day, and some of you are flying through like none of it matters. It’s reckless, it’s disrespectful, and it needs to stop.
Slow down. Pay attention. Show some basic decency.
If that’s too much to ask, then maybe it’s time for more signs, more enforcement, and whatever else it takes to get the message across.

I am who I am, unapologetically and I ain’t changing for nobody. We’ve been through too much and had too many good people step up along the way. Throwing shade at them just shows who you really are. Went public with this one, I ain't playing no more.......
