Putting on the Glitz Prom Extravaganza The Prom Extravaganza is intended to highlight local & surrounding area businesses that provide services available for students who are preparing for Prom!

Prom is one of the most memorable events for high school students, but it can also be a costly experience. Southern families typically spend on average $600 - $900 on prom. With ten schools in the East and West Baton Rouge Parish School Districts having 60% of their student body economically disadvantaged, the price of attending prom can be costly. Very similar to a bridal show, it is our intent t

o highlight local and surrounding area businesses that provide services available for students who are preparing to attend prom. The Prom Extravaganza will give students the opportunity to meet vendors, view the latest styles in prom fashion and win door prizes to help defray prom costs. Door prizes include but are not limited to restaurant gift cards, make-up applications, hair cutting/styling services, senior photo packages, tuxedo rentals and prom dresses. Proceeds raised from this event will be returned to our local community through our scholarship program and other programs geared towards improving the lives of our citizens.

The Gamma Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated has been serving the Baton Rouge community for 75 years with multifaceted programs in Education, Music & Arts, Health, Family Strengthening and Financial Literacy. Our programs enrich, empower, and enlighten lives. Additionally, we also provide more than $15,000 in scholarships annually though our charitable foundation, The Ivy Foundation.
