As you may have noticed, things are beginning to look a little different around here.
For as long as I can remember, summers in the Adirondacks have had my heart. And the reason for that goes back to my grandfather.
He owned the Mountaineer Restaurant, so some of my earliest and most cherished memories were made there. The brisk mountain air, the smell of fresh-brewed coffee before sunrise, and the familiar patter of family moving through the kitchen and dining room. It was a place filled with hard work, good food, family and people coming together.
Maybe that’s why Upstate New York has always been where I gravitate when I need some alone time, when I need to clear my head, sort through my thoughts and refocus on my path. The mountains, the quiet, the cool air and the slower pace have always brought me clarity — and, more often than not, a sense of new beginnings.
Our shop has always had a little bit of a to-the-earth feeling to it. A love for natural textures, nostalgic pieces, things with a story and things that simply make you feel good.
We’re going to lean into that a little more.
One of the biggest changes you’ll begin to notice is our clothing selection. There will simply be less of it. We’re scaling back the number of brands and becoming much more intentional about what earns a spot on our racks.
You’ll still find the tried-and-true pieces you love — the dresses, sweaters, jackets and staples you’ve come back for time and time again. Just a little more thoughtfully edited.
Where we’re really going to grow is in everything around them.
Think gifts, dry goods, foods, home goods, candles, soaps, scents, sweaters, scarves and all the little things that bring back a memory, make you think of someone or simply make you happy.
We’re thinking about gifts for everyone — not just gifts for yourself. Especially those hard-to-find finds that seem to turn up when you’re wandering around an upstate town, tucked into a little shop you didn’t expect to find.
You’ll start seeing some new names around here. You’ll also see some names you’ve always seen — you just may not have had a chance to discover them yet….
