New journey!! The goal was 3 canned items a month each month for a year! So far, we have cranberry juice, grape juice, green beans, pickels, and chicken stock. I also taught 2 people to make their own sandwich bread this week! Loving TX!!

And just like that Christmas break, and our first Christmas is TX is complete. He passed 50% of his 1st semester classes and is set for 2nd semester to include a brand new keyboard for him to learn a new instrument. He's better prepared for what college classes look like and spread his schedule out so he's not falling asleep in class 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️. Now I head back to TX and prepare for Seattle in Feb for my unexpected trip.

Another year of orbit for this kiddo. Well not so much kiddo any more. As tradition we did pancakes for "breakfast" this year was butterscotch. Then had family/friends over for dinner. "Nina's" tacos, rice, and of course charcuterie boards were needed! Happy birthday!

Had a fun trip with monster. A little Halloween time, grocery shopping, school activities, seeing his computer he built himself, and lots of laughs.

Wow it's been a while 🤦‍♀️!!

It has been a wild year so if you aren't in the VIP group or the mailing list you probably don't know why it's been so long!

Here is the update!

DOSS had his senior year of HS! He was part of marching band, orchestra, video production, and he was working 20-30 hours a week on top of that.

I had a full time job, was president of one of the 7 school parent groups, president of the district parent group, band mom volunteer, and chauffeur the the HS senior.

Mix in college applications and senior year activities we really had no time for anything else!!

College acceptance came in and we toured campuses add to that my trip to TX to decide where we were going to move! That's where the year went!

So an undefeated band season for the 3rd year (covid year is missing 😭) a foot ball season the went to CIF for the first time in 20 years (which ment more football games for the band) extra events the band was asked to play at because we were amazing, (vans corporate event, ktla 5 commercial, moon festival, lunar new year festival, Filipino cultural parade in DTLA) a music gala, a band building opening, a science building opening, a trip to NY for orchestra (since covid took it away before), an 18th birthday, all the parent volunteer events on campus and district, and graduation took us till the summer where we packed up and moved to Texas in 2 days, sheesh we are tired😴

All of this done in the most comfortable clothing possible, LuLaRoe!

DOSS leaves for college in 1 week and while we are excited this mamma is also sad and has spent every moment she could with him making as many memories as possible!

Once I'm home I'll be sharing more LuLaRoe items, how to style, how to mix and max and so much more!! Please stay tuned and get ready for the empty nest LuLaRoe Cathy because I will have way to much time on my hands now 🤣🤣.

Last week was a whirlwind but such a great start to 40!!! We got home from thr cruise to get to his last concert of the year, then my last coordinating council meeting as VP (now president), then into staff appreciation and finished it off with the band banquet!

I always find joy in teaching and mentoring youth!

One thing you may not know about me is I wanted to be a high school choir teacher. I never finished college but found other ways to teach the youth.

Today I got to dress up and look professional while mentoring the sophomores, juniors, and seniors at the Pathways alumni career day event. This is something I have done every year (when covid permitted) for the last 7 years.

Pathways was a huge part of my success in High School and I know it is the same for the students who are currently in it now! Being able to go in and help the youth of today prepare to be the leaders of tomorrow is a joy that I can never explain.

How can you teach or mentor someone in your life?

It was a cold and rainy day in cali, but it's my favorite kind of day!! Tossed on some Jax and an Amber to stay warm and comfy while reading, having my coffee, and watching the rain.
