I love to find a good color match!

I get a lot of my threads from local embroidery stores, and

The two on wooden bobbins are “Bella lusso”.

The thread on the white bobbin is “jawoll reinforcement thread” and can be bought at most of our local yarn stores. I get mine from .

I got perfect timing on the English release of .neumuller‘s new book since I just got a nice wool shirt to mend.

I had to pick up this book and learn all I could from this legend because one of her other books, “Mend and Patch” was my first intro to the world of mending. It’s the only book I carry in my little shop!

I describe the mends I do as “sashiko like” because I’m still not sure what “true” sashiko is. But this book gave me a lot of confidence that the correct way to stitch is the way that works for you. I also learned the proper words of a bunch of techniques (unshin vs yokogushi stitching) and some great tips to keep me going.

(Bonus bookmark sighting, a woven band, which I learned from ANOTHER of Kerstin’s books, “Simple Weave”)

There’s a link in my Bio. It’s $2 a month and that gets you access to the ROUGH draft of my entire book plus occasional actual polished chapters like this one.

Reverse engineering is the first step to mending this blanket.

It’s actually not as bad as it looks. All this came from one single broken thread, so I don’t have to add any new material, just pick up the stitches while maintaining the pattern. So step one is figure out the pattern!
