Today’s snaps 📸 are courtesy of my friend Brooke from Honey B’s in Martinsburg! She’s a longtime client, and visited yesterday to pick up a couple things she had already bought.

While she was there, I asked if she would grab a few photos of things that caught her eye 👀

Brooke says, “I started with coffee/drink related items, then I started taking pictures everywhere because I just love everything!”

I love to see the shop through the lens of others’ experiences. Maybe this should become a thing? Goods from Thirteen Pines are furnishing and decorating dozens of local businesses—I’m visiting another one today for a gallery wall consult.

It’s taking me longer to fill the cubbies than expected, but I’ve added plenty of other things to explore in the meantime! It really is all in the details—like the VII in the front of that bench. It reminds me of the marriage marks in our barn, which helped the builders 160+/- years ago match the timber joints.

Everything’s gritty, nothing’s pretty, but I’m happy.

My week has revolved around reassembling this workbench I picked up over a year ago from Junkworks Antiques (MacGuyvering and hardware store trips were required, which I knew when I bought it, but projects are forever getting pushed back around here). I couldn’t wait to top it with this hardware cubby. I’ve always envisioned pairing them.

Neither one’s for sale right now, but maybe down the road. Right now I’m excited to start filling & staging.

When I was planning our wedding, people kept asking what our colors were, and I’d say, “I don’t want any,” which I’m pretty sure my mother thought was absurd, yet apropos.

Choosing florals helped define the vibe—magnolia, hops, white peonies, dried thistle (that I picked myself from the roadside for what felt like a couple hundred flower arrangements but was really only like 40 🤣), cascading greens & trailing cream-colored flowers.

Along with whiskey barrels, a wooden arbor and a barnwood wall we built (which is now in the front of the store, living its best second life), the decor ended up defining the color palette, rather than the other way around. We incorporated antique vessels like nail kegs, silverplate teapots and glass pitchers. Ambers, golds and bronzes were a natural extension.

This display always speaks that same tonal language to me. I love that it’s always changing, it’s effortless to add in new goods, and the textures and depth tell the story. Subtle, but not plain. It gives me some variety, too, because I typically gravitate toward a heavier, more saturated style of decor.
