đĽ What Youâre Supporting with Operation Sacred Grounds:
Youâre not just backing a book. Youâre backing raw, real stories that speak to veterans and seekers alikeâstories soaked in faith, memory, and moments only someone whoâs been there could write.
Hereâs one of those moments, straight from the hospital scene in Sacred Groundsâafter a spiritual battle, after a near-death experience, after the dust starts to settle:
Beckett reached into his coat and pulled out a dented silver can with a bold red stripeâRip-Itâs âPowerâ flavor. The logo looked like something from a 90s recruiting poster. He cracked it open with a hiss, the sound weirdly satisfying in the sterile hospital cafeteria.
Sarah blinked. âSeriously? That stuff?â
Beckett took a long drink. Closed his eyes. Let it sit there.
âDonât judge,â he said. âStarted during deployments. Weâd sweep the DFAC fridge with trash bagsâclear the whole row. It turned into a game. My crew hit a hundred and twenty-three once. Just to say we did it.â
Sarah made a face.
Beckett grinned. âItâs awful. But itâs my brand of awful. You get attached to strange comforts when your life runs on adrenaline and duct tape.â
He held up the can. âRed stripeâs âPower.â Green was âG-Force,â blue was âCitrus X,â and the camo one was âTribute.â We always said the color told you how bad your day was gonna suck.â
She smirked. âAnd today?â
Beckett took another sip, savoring it. âRed stripe kind of day.â
