Oh my gosh these bears made from a momma’s wedding dress as gifts to her grown daughters turned out great! Also, new challenge met! Look at these adorable hats! The child size straw hats were ordered on-line but then it took extensive time to recreate the hat for each bear. So worth it!

One of our favorite bears. This one was not an order. Ralph and I were just playing around with ideas. I had a key clip that I thought would be funny as a nose ring, Ralph was experimenting/learning how to sew on scraps of faux alligator skin he turned into chaps and we were curious to see if we could make bear beards. Bear beards are very time consuming!

We loved him. He was sent off to a good home.

Bears are such an unexpected creative canvas.

Oh my gosh, 3 bears with so much variety! Love all of them!

Bear 1 – Made from pop’s hoodie. The outside of the hoodie was dark brown with a faint black print. That was used for the back, top of the arms, outer legs, forehead and back of the head stripe. The fuzzy inside of the hoodie was used for the outside of the ears. This one had a Chicago Bears “C” made into a paw applique from Pop’s jacket. And a cute pink knit cap, a gift from Pop, with the ears poking through.

Bear 2 – Made partly from Pop’s shirt and part jacket, This bear had a Chicago Bears “C” from a jacket sewn onto the paw! Had to hand stitch the "C" and the "Chicago Bears" lettering cut from a pull over after the bear was complete. Since the lettering was so long, I stitched on the very outside edge or on the cut-out. Patience, lots-o-patient hand stitching. Needed the thimble and needle pullers on that one.

Bear 3 – Baseball bear. Outfit was a gift to his grandson and now made into a bear. The outfit is so cute! White Sox applique on a paw and bear ears poking out the adorable hat! All the bears had a Puerto Rican flag applique on one arm, “Love Dad” on the other.

All bears have children safety eyes on our own fleece so they are flush - added safety. Because of the differences in fabric, honestly the difficulty in sewing bears that can sit on their own, and individually made, hand cutting each nose and hand-embroidering each smile makes each bear have its own personality.

Each bear measures 12"x12"x12". They take 3-4 months to complete. They cost $150. ($30 of polyfil and 8 hours or more to make). Pattern matching on both sides, a lot of difficult hand stitching, these bears sit on their own, every piece reinforced with lining and color of thread changed many times to match the pieces adjacent to each other.

It's been a minute since I've posted some of my bears. This one is from last year. I love when bears bring in something that opens up a new feature. The new feature on this bear is a tiara slot! As many dancers know, it is great fun to wear a beautiful costume, but at the end of the day, it is nice to take off the tiara.

Sorry for posting, deleting, posting, deleting, etc. You wouldn't believe how I had to get these pictures added and put in order. Oh well, came out right in the end.

Bears measure 12"x12"x12". They take approximately 4 months to make and cost $150. Special Feature - Custom Valentine’s Day Bear!
Taylor Swift Inspired – Chicago Cubs – Embroidered Heart with Bible Verse Bear!

The ears and paws were inspired by two of Swift’s Eros Tour costumes. See pictures below. The ears were beaded and the paws were created by hand-stitching gold sequin fabric over cording to mimic the look of one of the costumes.

I used an incredible gift from my sister, Sandie – my first embroidery machine! Shout out to Linda Z's Sewing Center in Arlington Heights. (Thanks salesperson/expert Mary!) I’m taking it slow but I was able to make this requested heart with their names and Bible verse on satin. To see the text of the verse, click on the photo below.

Customer requested the Cub’s fabric, the heart and Bible verse. I asked about his girlfriend’s additional interests. He said she was a Taylor Swift fan. Voila! I love how all these bears are unique to the person who requests them. This bear now holds the memories of baseball games, music, faith and love. How great is that?!
