Update:
I know it is taking forever to get June classes up. Working hard on it. Finished with prom, bridal and bridesmaid alterations and a few days in bed trying hard to get over the bug that is going around. But more importantly, I am also trying to get a dedicated website up so there is one place to see the calendar of classes, buy tickets, get feed back, post photos, videos, lists, etc.

If I need to, I will delay the website until July but if I can get the website up and running for June classes, I think it would be easier for everyone.

Thanks for your patience and words of interest. I can’t wait to share my love of sewing!

Because science.
Pic 1 - pin stuck between cutting table and loose side
Pic 2 - tweezers can’t open enough to grasp it
Pic 3 - magnet can’t fit into the space
Pic 4 - Eureka! Hold magnet to metal tweezers, lower into gap. Magnetized tweezer attracts metal pin just by touch.
Final pic - Combined two tools to create third tool to extract pin.
Yay science!

Such a lovely time teaching a Hemming class with Tina last night! I did things a little differently since she was a solo student. I asked she bring a pair of her pants (and shoes she wears with them) to learn to hem. She brought 4 pairs to select from and chose yoga pants.

We spent a little bit of time learning her new Brother sewing machine, a gift from a friend and a mini-version of Intro to Sewing. Then had her put on the pants and taught how to pin them up.

And then started sewing and then how to press (iron with a presser cloth and wood blocks).

Future hemming classes - bring in a pair of pants (with shoes) to hem. Earlier start time for those new to machine sewing or new machine. Smaller class size, maybe 4, 3 hour class.

I’m looking forward to another hemming class in June or July.

Ah, a work around. Posting 3rd video from my visit in April of Rainbow Fabrics. See prior post of part 1 & 2. Some day, I will learn to edit. Not today. This is a whopping 15 minutes! Who does this?!

May is not great for sewing classes. I do alterations and prom-nado was/is a heavy lift. There are a couple more prom dresses need alterations for May 15th, plus bridesmaids, brides, memory bears and general alterations are pushing sewing classes into a corner.

Classes will be back in June! I do see daylight!

In the meantime, here are 3 unedited, super cringy videos I took in April of one Chicago fabric store I love - Rainbow Fabrics, 612 Roosevelt Road, just Northwest of China Town.

First video attached, second and third are attached in comments.

Note: prices and availability may go up.
