Do you remember the first hat you ever ruined?

Jack does.

It had been redone so many times that when he blocked it out, the brim tore away from the crown. Too many old stitch holes from the sweatband had weakened the felt.

Reddit asked Jack about hat stiffener—what he uses and whether it goes inside or outside the crown.

Jack applies it to the inside. He buys his stiffener commercially rather than making his own, usually from Lee Co. in Oregon. M&F makes one as well, and Jack keeps the M&F product stocked here at the shop for customers who need it.
