Late post—thank you for the painting and birthday gift . Someone once said, "Surround yourself with Talent". This is how talent evolves art.
Portrayed here is a photo of me (duh) wearing a short sleeved design I made last year as part of my first ready-to-rock shirt collection . Its representation of culture and personal growth that allows others to celebrate success with you. ESPECIALLY family. . .
The print was given to me by my mother, in support of my dreams to make high-quality men's African shirts. She purchased this fabric, along with many others, at a local market in Zambia, my birth country. .
The fabric appears to illustrate a RONDAVEL—or locally 'insaka'. check out lodge for a contemporary take on Thatched roofs. Fond memories of visiting with family stargazing beneath a dreamy moon, seemingly depicted; you'll notice a hypnotized moon atop each rondavel on the shirt. .
The original photo was captured by , a celebrated photographer and creative Wizz, known for his portraits and award-winning editing skills. We took this picture an hour before my flight back to the US when I visited last year and it took him all of 2 minutes to capture the element perfectly — . .
On my birthday, threw in his own twist. I think the illustration is clever because abstract art is an essential part of contemporary art. This painting is now framed and is a reminder to me of the importance of collaboration in my journey as a fashion designer! @ Bellevue, Washington
