Today I would like to propose a toast to failure.
..bet that's not what you thought this postwas going to say after not hearing from Uniquely Yoga in FOREVER... but it feels important right now never the less!
Sara Blakely taught me that failure is something to be celebrated, because if you haven't failed lately then you probably haven't tried anything big enough to create growth.
Another wise new friend of mine told me recently that as long as you are learning the lessons that life has to teach, collecting the data and using it to grow, then you really can't even fail at all! You can only learn.
It took me until I was today years old to see it this way, but see it I do, and I'm now ready to embrace those old failures (and the new ones that I'm sure will continue to come my way, because I'm in love with the growth opportunities that arise when failing becomes a success metric!)
If you know me from outside of the yoga pants world, you may have seen my business bio, and will read that 8 years ago, I started 3 companies while battling a brain tumor - and you will probably be impressed! But what you won't read is that one of those companies only lasted a year, and the second one - Uniquely Yoga, should have been sold or closed down YEARS ago, as I moved all of my time and energy into focusing on creating high impact brand identity designs through Design By Jo (a decision I can never regret!)...but I was so ashamed to admit defeat to anyone that I couldn't bring myself to so much as offer a going out of business sale, because heaven forbid that anyone know I don't have what it takes to hack it in the yoga pants world!!!!!
Fail. But maybe... win. So today, I'm celebrating this glorious fail (and today I’ve finally decided to be brave enough to make that going out of business sale, and to let you in on the chance to stock up on Christmas presents for your favorite athletes at a huge discount before we close down the website for good!
My whole life I have hidden from my failures - stuffed them in dark corners and refused to acknowledge them, when in reality they are metrics for my ultimate good, and should be celebrated (massively) as such!
I toast to the wins on the regular, but those smudged little failures? They get shoved away without acknowledgment, lest they topple me from my desire for excellence.
So today, I acknowledge. I accept. And release the outcomes.

On a happier note, my fail is your Christmas shopping gain! - stock up on your favorite styles one last time. We will be shutting down the business before the end of the year, and the website with it, so get them while you can!
We may still post the occasional yogi photo on instagram, because we just can’t stay away from acro, but we will miss you all, and appreciate each and every one of you for your loyal support over the years of Uniquely Yoga!
