Did you know??? Not only was my hometown, Camden, Arkansas, known for Camark pottery…but it is also known for the ever favorite Graoette drink and the character bottles! These used to go for quite a bit of money. But seems that desire may have dwindled some.

The Grapette Company, founded in 1939 by Benjamin "Tyndle" Fooks in Camden, Arkansas, is best known for its famous grape soda. To complement their beverage lineup, Grapette introduced a beloved line of figural "Animal" and character-shaped syrup bottles in 1948.

The History of the Grapette Animal and Character Bottles.

Introduction: In 1948, Grapette expanded beyond carbonated soft drinks to offer economical, non-carbonated family beverages. They released a line of concentrated, fruit-flavored syrups designed to be mixed with water.

Iconic Designs: Instead of standard glass, these syrups were sold in clear glass containers shaped like popular animals and figures. The most famous of these was the "Elee" (Elephant), but the line also included other novelty shapes like Clowns and various animals.

Double Duty: The figural bottles acted as functional drinking glasses and home items. Many consumers repurposed them as children's cups, and some even featured coin slots on the lids to serve as piggy banks.Manufacturing: The iconic glass bottles were produced by glassmakers like the Sapulpa, Oklahoma-based Liberty Glass Company.

Legacy: The syrup bottles remained a staple in American homes throughout the 1950s alongside the brand’s core soda lines. Today, these colorful and whimsical bottles are highly sought-after collector's items in vintage glassware and soda memorabilia.

Just curious… my followers have been going up. Now all of a sudden I’m losing followers. Is this normal? I feel like I’m doing something wrong. 😑
