On my way to work this morning the interstate was shut down, forcing me to take a detour. It seemed like an inconvenience until I noticed how beautiful the detour was.

I passed fields with the morning fog still covering them, I passed cattle grazing, and I passed water with the sunrise glistening off of it. I would’ve never seen any of that this morning if I wouldn’t have been forced to detour.

It was a reminder to me how thankful I am for all the detours in my own personal life. In our minds we think we know it all, and things have to go just the way we plan. When it doesn’t, we start feeling sorry for ourselves.

Looking back, I am so thankful God had his own plans for me. I’m so thankful for all of the detours he made me go through. I wouldn’t be who I am today without them. I’m thankful for all the times that I felt like things were going good (or wasn’t at all) and then last minute God threw me the “GO LEFT NOW!”. Protecting me from a rougher road ahead.

Faith is such a crazy thing. We have sight so we can verify what is happening now. We have regret when we know what could’ve happened. However, faith is stepping into the unseen and unknown. It’s when you’re forced into those detours. You may not know where you’re going, but ultimately you know you’ll end up right where you need to be.

If you’re in a detour season, keep your faith and know it will all come out in the wash. When your heart is full of faith, it leaves no room for doubt. ❤️❤️

Today quite literally kicked my ass. 😅😮‍💨

Dug out all the flower beds around the whole perimeter of the farmhouse by hand.

Pulled out all the grass and weeds by hand.

Planted foliage.

Put down plastic and mulch.

Hand gathered rocks and did all my trim.

I did all this myself why my hubby worked on things inside that required a saw. 🤣 (all while keeping a sharp eye on my two hootenannies.)

I’ll be so relieved when this place sells and I can take a breather. Right now my husband and I are on a non stop grind. 😅

I know it will all be worth it!

All moved in. Kids are adjusting quite well. ❤️❤️

For those who are new here, this is just an update on our journey of selling our home to build a house in the country. ❤️❤️

Our farmhouse should be on the market in about two weeks! 🥺
We are still popping in and out of the farmhouse to make it perfect for the lucky new owners.

Last night was a good reminder that kindness and grace is completely free, but it can mean so much to someone.

After spending the entire day moving, I realized around 9 PM that I needed more boxes for today.

My husband has been working mandatory overtime, so I’ve been handling most of the move myself. It has been soooooo much work, and I was exhausted. I needed a little pick me up to get me through the night. 😅

On the way home from Walmart, I saw Dunkin’s lights shining bright like a neon moon leading me home, and I decided that an iced coffee sounded like exactly what I needed. The kids were happy, and asked if they could get a little treat too.

I pulled into the drive thru around 9:45 PM, not realizing they closed at 10. The line was moving so slowly. When I finally reached the speaker, the employee kindly asked me to wait just a moment. I told him to take his time and he was totally fine!

We sat there with the windows down listening to AC/DC just enjoying the warm night air, and then I realized something, there was absolutely no reason to be impatient. We wasn’t in a hurry. We were just enjoying the moment. (Trying to teach myself that I don’t have to do everything at a racing speed).

When I finally got to the window, I noticed they were already mopping and getting ready to close. I apologized for coming so late and joked with the employee. I asked him if he had spit in my coffee. He laughed and assured me it was completely spit free.

Then he handed me my order… along with six sprinkle donuts and a bag of donut holes. I only ordered 3 donut holes and a sprinkle donut.

He told me he appreciated my kindness and that they would have had to throw them out anyway.

It was a reminder that very cashier, barista, server, and employee you encounter is a human being carrying things you know nothing about. A little patience, and a little grace, a little kindness goes a long way.

In a world that feels rushed and impatient, choose kindness anyway. You never know whose day you might brighten, or how God might use a small moment to remind you that kindness matters. ❤️

Sad that my husband won’t be home for dinner this evening.. however that means I can get pizza the right way.. with ham and pineapple 😉

I tried something new tonight! Mythical pizzas pizza bowls. I didn’t realize it didn’t have crust.🤣

Still so good though!
