How often should you dry clean your suit?

Less than you think.

If you’re investing in quality garments- natural fabrics, proper construction- there’s no need to overdo it.

Frequent dry cleaning exposes your suit to harsh chemicals and high heat, which can break down the fabric over time.

A few simple habits go a long way:

• Use a steamer- quick, effective, and easy
• Hang your garments properly- it makes a bigger difference than most realize
• Spot treat when needed instead of defaulting to a full clean

And if you do bring it in, ask for a press only when possible.

Your suit will last longer- and look better because of it.

We get this question a lot- how do you pack a suit for travel?

Here’s what’s worked well for me.

I’ll usually lay the suit inside a dry cleaning bag, then either strap it into the suitcase or layer pieces on top to keep everything flat and secure.

As soon as you arrive, take it out and hang it properly. Let it breathe- it’ll naturally release a lot of the wrinkles.

And I always travel with a portable steamer- just in case.
