🚨 OCTOBER IS SLOW DOWN MOVE OVER AWARENESS MONTH! 🚨

Every time we step out onto the roadway, we’re putting our lives on the line. Behind every tow truck, emergency vehicle, and roadside worker is someone who has a family waiting for them to come home.

SLOW DOWN. MOVE OVER. IT’S THE LAW.

A few seconds of your time could save someone’s life. No call, destination, or distraction is worth a life.

This October, help us spread awareness, educate drivers, and protect those who work along our roadways.

💛 LIFE ON THE LINE — EVERY LIFE MATTERS.

My deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of CTDOT employee Elvin Hernandez, as well as his entire DOT family, following this morning’s heartbreaking tragedy on I-95 in Fairfield.

This is another devastating reminder of the dangers faced by the men and women who work along our roadways every day.

Whether it is a DOT employee, tow truck operator, first responder, or anyone else working roadside, they deserve to finish their shift and make it home safely to their families.

I ask every driver to please slow down. Move over. Put the phone away. Pay attention.

Please keep Elvin’s family, loved ones, coworkers, and the entire CTDOT community in your thoughts and prayers.

The Connecticut towing community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Alexander “Alex” Ramos, a 26-year-old tow operator, husband, and father of two whose life was tragically cut short while doing his job. On September 8, 2026, Alex was working roadside on Tunxis Avenue in Bloomfield when he was struck and killed by a vehicle. (NBC Connecticut) His death is another devastating reminder of the dangers tow operators face every single day while helping others get home safely. Behind every tow truck and every set of flashing lights is a person with a family waiting for them to come home. Alex should have made it home to his wife and his children that night. In his memory, please SLOW DOWN and MOVE OVER whenever you see a tow truck or emergency vehicle working roadside. One moment of attention can save a life. Rest in peace, Alex. Your towing family will not forget you. 🖤💛
