Today is Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) Awareness Day, also known as Red Dress Day.
Recently, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, including our Mashantucket Royalty, gathered at the Connecticut State Capitol to honor Indigenous women and girls affected by violence and raise awareness of these ongoing injustices.
The red hand symbolizes the connection between the physical and spiritual worlds. By wearing red, we call upon the strength and guidance of our ancestors.
Join us in remembrance and solidarity.
