Howard Charles leads Starz’s as an elite heavyweight boxer whose life falls apart the very night he wins the world title, framed, imprisoned and stripped of everything he built. Eight years later, he’s out and hunting for the truth behind his brother’s murder.
In our cover story, Charles opens up about the classical theater training that shaped him, the 15 pounds he put on to look the part, and the surprising role ballet played in perfecting his left hook.
Born and raised in Brixton, London, Charles talks about what he loves most about the city. “London has the glitz and the glamour, but it also has edge and grit,” he says. “Can’t help it if I was born in the greatest city on Earth.”
He also talks about brotherhood, both the kind his character fights for on screen and the kind he believes society is missing.
