Generally speaking, we recommend that you take off your jewelry before going swimming, be that at the pool, a lake, the ocean, or the hot springs, to avoid losing it or having the stones interact with the chemicals and minerals in the water in a way that changes the color.

BUT…if you happen to wear your sterling silver jewelry swimming and discover that it’s in major need of a polish, we’ve got you. The pieces that you make at The Stone Pony come with lifetime free polishes.

Hot Spring water has lots of minerals that will naturally interact with the silver and tarnish the surface of the metal. It doesn’t damage the metal permanently, but you will need a polish up to bring your piece back to its former glory.
