šMARRIAGE MINUTE
Laughter has rescued our marriage almost as often as love has.
We've had quite a few people ask, āHow does this contest actually work?ā So today we're pulling back the curtain a little... and sharing why we entered in the first place.
(Spoiler alert: We had no idea we'd still be here! šš)
Tim and I entered this contest to have fun, stretch and focus on the beauty of our relationship.
We have discovered WE are worth celebrating... not because we're perfect, but because we've stayed.
Each post allows us to share a little Marriage Minute, and if one small thought encourages another couple to love each other a little better, then we've already won.
There's another reason I myself am enjoying this journey...
At 72, I'm learning things that used to intimidate me... creating Reels, using Canva, experimenting with AI, recording videos, and stretching myself in ways I never imagined. Every post teaches me something new.
We also love that this contest supports two charities that are meaningful to us: The Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, contributing to families facing hunger, and Oceana, working to protect our oceans for future generations.
Now... for those wondering how the contest works...
We are #2 in our group only, not overall. The contest began with more than 160,000 couples, divided into about 2,400 groups. Today there are still around 34,000 couples competing, and we are #2 in our group heading into the Top 10 run off.
Next week the field narrows to the Top 10, then the Top 5, and finally just one couple from each group advances to the semifinals.
We've been holding steady at #2, and eventually we'll need to move into the top spot to continue into the semi finals. Every free vote has mattered, and as the contest narrows, every donation will have an even greater impact.
Every time we see another vote come in, we're reminded that someone took a few moments out of their day to cheer us on. That is humbling to us. Please know we don't take that for granted. We are genuinely touched by your kindness.
We truly believe people are basically good. We believe most of us genuinely enjoy encouraging others and celebrating their victories.
You've done that for us.
Thank you for believing in us. Thank you for cheering us on. Most of all, thank you for reminding us that kindness is still alive and well!
