When I took Penny Paris Fawn in for her shots a couple of weeks ago, we ended up fitting her in for her spay too.

Very last minute, but it made sense to get it done.

When I was putting her in a kennel in our clinic to wait her turn for surgery, our vet's tech came out and said, "Omg, who is this?!"

I told her about our fostering journey with Penny and how we were hopeful that our nervous Johnny would come around, but the jury was still out.

She said, "If you guys decide it isn't a good fit, please call me first."

And I promised I would.

Just about two weeks later, I made that call.

We finally admitted that it wasn't the right time.

I finally admitted Penny was quick decision and a bandaid for the loss I didn't want to face in losing Paris & my Aunt Janice.

And it wasn't fair to Penny.

A few days later, Penny made the leap into Lydia's home with her dogs. And it was a solid match from the start. 🥹

Penny is a baby so she has alot to learn, but bigger than that, she has so much JOY to share! We miss her terribly, but Lydia has been so generous with updates and we KNOW she is safe, loved & supported. 🥹

If hadn't squeezed her in for surgery, Lydia never would have met her .. but here we are. And sweet baby Penny is thriving with so many new big brothers. 🥰

Hiiiiiiii 🫶🏽

Life has been .. a lot lately & I'm just now sort of catching my breath.

Miss y'all so I wanted to tell you that & give some updates 🤍

The loss of Paris has brought us immense sadness and also bittersweet moments of renewal. Friends surprising us with incredible kindness and a new love in the shape of a chiweenie who we have named Penny (well, Penny Paris Fawn .. more on that soon).

Shortly after Paris passed, my Auntie died. I spent a few weeks with both of my Aunties (one dying and one hosting her caretaking in her home). I still don't have all the words for it all, but I will say that it was beautiful & awful & full of .. everything.

As life has flipped & moved, so has some of my professional attention. I've recently accepted an offer with Humane Society of Blue Ridge to manage their organizational marketing efforts.

This felt like a logical next step within animal welfare & I'm curious how far we can cast a ripple from this sleepy mountain town of ours.

I also made a pivot late last year and started a media marketing company and Grumpy Old Men Brewing became a client.

Ambs is KILLING it in her retirement & running point on building our dream house. She's so talented and I'm continuously in awe of her. 🥹 Excited to show you guys more on this as Spring arrives more everyday here. 🌸

The Ramblin' print shop is still in progress, but fell to the back burner for all the reasons lol. Hoping to be in there pulling ink & hosting shelter dogs by summer 🤞

So, for now, we created a F**K ICE design and the timing felt right to release it .. it's in our online shop now on tees and crops. Proceeds will benefit in Minneapolis for their efforts supporting the animals left behind by those detained & deported by ICE.

Last Monday, we lost our sweet PARIS.

Just our family entered into an era of life we've worked & dreamed of for so long, one of our greatest loves won't be here to experience it with us. ❤️‍🩹

It's tough to put into words how life feels right now, but it was important for me to tell you.

You have known her & cheered her on so beautifully for the the last 8 years when Ambs & I met.

She died last Monday at 13 years old knowing exactly how much love & light surrounded her. 🥹

Y'ALL. IT HAPPENED.

The hail mary we prayed for showed up this afternoon in the form of Lori & Dave.

They're perfect for YODA (now KODA!) & he now has his very own family to love him well forever. 😭

Thank you to everyone who shared him & cheered him on. Humane Society of Blue Ridge cared for him beautifully for 11 months & saved his whole life.

And now, his big and beautiful real life in the world can begin!

DAY 8 with adoptable YODA 🫶🏽

Today was my last day with sweet baby YODA at the house ❤️‍🩹

He's back at the shelter which really sucks, but he is also well loved there by the entire staff so that makes it a little easier to swallow.

I'm headed to St Pete in days to finally and officially bring our family to N. Georgia. 🤩

Ambs & I did agree to revisit the convo about YODA once our house is done in the Spring if he's still at the shelter, but I'm hopeful he'll be long gone by then! 🤞

Today, I worked a morning shift at and all I could think about was Renee Nicole Good.

YODA and I came home, talked about the absolute sh*tshow heartbreak that is this country and he made the day a little easier to handle.

He's sensitive, silly, intuitive & I know in my gut that his family is out there. Thank you for caring about him and sharing him. 🫶🏽

The only update today is that he might be the absolute most handsome. 🥹

He also offered to share a wing tip eyeliner tutorial, but that he was too sleepy to film it today after a day playing with his shelter friends.

Hopefully he'll make time for that tutorial tomorrow 💅🏽
