This needle.... it means so many things. It signifies the end of a project and means this quilt is about ready to go to it’s new home. I sit here and hand sew the binding(edging) on most quilts and I look at the quilt, thinking about the people this quilt is going to, who the clothing belonged to and what these clothing have been through. If they could talk, what would they say?

This season has been the most busy season yet and I thank you all for your patience and understanding of any delay. As this year has not gone as planned for anyone, I’m working as fast as I can to catch up on older projects and finish everything I can before the holidays. Stay safe and spend it with those you love and make the best of the situations handed to you. Happy holidays everyone.

On a side note, after the first of the year, I will be rebranding and starting fresh on my new page Made By Shawn which better represents me and all I make. I am one person working as much as I can with my crafts and sewing while still making time for my family. Sending love to all for your support. Sometimes a project comes out better than you anticipated. This couple came to me to create pillows, bears and little memory hearts from grandpa’s fishing shirts. It’s a bittersweet feeling working on projects like this. Each cut and stage I think about the man who wore these shirts. Where did he go, what did he see, who was he with, how many fish did he catch? I feel honored to create these keepsakes for the family in a season that is difficult for those missing their loved ones that are no longer here. Weather it’s a quilt, pillow, bear or a heart that could hang in the home year round or as an ornament on a tree, these are all a piece of the man who wore these shirts. New memories will be created with them, memories will be thought of when they are held. And seeing the faces when I deliver any of these items is my favorite part. As I am working as fast I can to catch up on all the quilts in the pile to finish here, delayed by mom life, Covid and over working, it feels good to deliver every project one by one to their new homes. This project turned out so nice and beyond my expectations. And there is enough left over to make more in the future as well. ❤️

Adult & Kids size 5-14 masks heading over to Lettrs on HHI today! First come first serve on patterns so either call and have them placed on hold or stop in after 1pm to have the first pick!

With school coming up as well as activities, make sure your kids are stocked up with at least a few masks (as well as you) giving you time to wash and hang dry the masks before rewearing. I suggest one mask per day for the kids so your only washing them once a week.

More masks will be available in about a week, for special orders with specific fabrics please message me so we can work one on one to get you what you need. Thank you all for your continued support and helping small local businesses.

When your purchasing a mask (from me or someone else) do you like the fact that it has a filter pocket? And do you put a filter in it or just use it without the filter? Trying to streamline my process and wanted to know the general consensus. This is also if the fabric is 100% cotton.

A preview of some of the fantastic fabrics for the masks that will be posted for sale later this week. Stay tuned for a date and time for the sale! Most new adult masks also have a new smaller nose piece that is removable for washing. It’s the same type piece you would find on an n95 masks but is slipped into a “pocket” on the masks I am making. Helps give an improved shape and fit, not that it was bad before!
