There’s something about late summer in the mountains.

The sun is out.
The beer is flowing.
The air is getting just cool enough to reach for something you’ll wear for years.

And Westerly is at Snowbird.

For the next few weekends, we’re bringing a little piece of our Sedona workshop to the mountains of Utah. Racks filled with Westerly favorites, one of a kind pieces, and a first look at new designs that haven’t fully made their way into the world yet.

It’s a rare chance to step inside Westerly in person. To feel the leathers, try everything on, find your size, discover the pieces you may have only seen through a screen, and see what we’ve been quietly working on behind the scenes.

This weekend is looking beautiful.

Come up the mountain. Have a beer. Stay awhile.

What a legend.

Jo Dee Messina has been woven into my story long before we ever had the chance to make something for her.

I grew up listening to her music while my mom drove us to school every morning. Those songs are part of the soundtrack of my childhood.

Years later, on February 9, 2013, I got to see her perform at the Alex Theatre in Glendale, California with the Glendale Pops Orchestra for Hits & Love Songs. I still remember how incredible it was to see her on that stage.

And now, all these years later, seeing Jo Dee absolutely rock a pair of chaps we made is so special.

Some moments have a way of bringing your whole story back around.

This was one of them. A true full circle moment. 💜

Kaitlin Butts is on an absolute tear.
What a force ⚡️

Although we don’t often share some of the earliest Westerly designs anymore, this harness will always have a special place in our hearts. It’s one of those pieces that has traveled through so many chapters of Westerly.

From the cover of Modern Luxury Nashville on Lainey Wilson, to Moriah, Brandi Cyrus, and so many incredible women along the way, it has proven itself time and time again as the perfect little extra layer of cowgirl.

It’s wild to think how far we’ve come.

Westerly began with our family, our dogs, and my sewing machine all living in a bus, making things one piece at a time and dreaming about what this little brand could someday become.

Today, we have a workshop, a small but mighty team, and I get to work side by side with my amazing partner, building Westerly with our own hands and hearts.

There is so much love behind every garment we make. There is also plenty of blood, sweat, tears, long nights, mistakes, problem solving, and hands on work that no one ever sees. Every piece carries a little bit of our story and the people who helped bring it to life.

Now we get to spend the next couple of months here in the Utah mountains Snowbird , sharing our world with you in person through October.

Getting to meet the people who walk through our space, hearing your stories, dressing you up, watching you touch and feel the garments, and sharing how and why they are made has become one of our favorite parts of this journey.

Thank you to every person who stops in, says hello, tries something on, takes something home, or simply takes the time to hear our story and learn about what we make.

& we are pretty damn grateful❣️

Westerly was never built because I wanted to start a brand.

It wasn’t built around margins, mass production, or the idea of simply putting more clothes into the world.

Westerly was built because I believed something was missing.

Before Westerly, I spent fifteen years working inside the fashion industry as a fit model. I had a front-row seat to the machine, the constant collections, the race toward the next trend, the pressure to make more, faster and cheaper.

But I also had the opportunity to work alongside extraordinary designers and makers. I learned how a beautiful garment is constructed. How fit changes everything. How fabric behaves. How quality reveals itself in the smallest details. And, eventually, how dramatically different fashion can be from style.

Fashion asks, What do you want next?

Style asks, What will you still love twenty years from now?

Those years shaped Westerly long before Westerly had a name.

I watched original ideas move through the industry and become copies almost overnight. I watched independent designers create something special, only to see larger companies reproduce it without the story, craftsmanship, or soul that made it meaningful in the first place.

It gave me a very clear idea of what I never wanted Westerly to become.

We do not design from someone else’s ideas. We do not chase trends. We do not create simply because the calendar says it is time for another collection.

There has to be a reason for something to exist.

Every Westerly piece begins with genuine thought and intention: beautiful materials, remarkable craftsmanship, functionality, longevity and the belief that what we make should become more meaningful, not less, with time.

That is also why our pieces carry a lifetime warranty.

Because “forever” shouldn’t just be language used in marketing. If we ask you to invest in something intended to last a lifetime, we believe we should stand behind it for one.
