I saw this B737 from the control tower and I had to do some research on it. did what?!? 🤩
The silhouette of 14 profiles of students, family members, and mentees of employees are represented on the “commitment aircraft.” They are part of a 138-feet-long, 41-feet-high Boeing 737 piece of art that will fly in Alaska’s fleet for up to 10 years to symbolize Alaska’s own equality journey and collective commitment to education in partnership with organizations like !!!
The B737 has three inspirational quotes emblazoned across its fuselage. The first declares, “The time is always right to do what is right,” and was penned by the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Attributed to South Africa’s Nelson Mandela, the second quote states, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change to the world.” Signaling a call to action, the third quote by Dr. Maya Angelou urges, “When you learn, teach, when you get, give.”
I like what is doing here!! Very nice touch for the sky.

Eleanor Joyce Toliver-Williams - the first African-American woman to certify as an air traffic controller

The next time you are flying in a jet, take a moment to think about the Air Traffic Controllers in the Tower, TRACON, or En-Route Center safely guiding your plane to their destinations , of course with the help of your pilot. Eleanor Joyce Toliver-Williams was one such unsung hero.

In 1968, Eleanor began her career at Federal Aviation Administration as a cleaner. She then worked for the flight standards and personnel offices, where she helped process the paperwork to hire new air traffic controllers. Seeing an opportunity for more exciting work and higher pay, she applied for one of the air traffic control positions. Williams later said she wanted a higher paying position because "the babysitter was costing an arm and a leg."

She completed the controller entrance exam and began training at the Anchorage Flight Service Station in 1968. She received certification in 1971. Not until 1980 did she find out she was the first black-American female air traffic controller.

Her legacy did not stop there; this was merely a stepping-stone. She went on to become the first African-American woman to head up a significant en-route facility in 1994, at the Cleveland ARTCC in Oberlin, Ohio, at the time, the nation's second-busiest en-route air traffic control facility. She was inducted into the Black Aviation Hall of Fame in 2001!

On January 16, 2019, the Regional Airport Authority voted to change the name of the Louisville Standiford Field airport to Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport in honor of the legendary boxing great and Louisville native Muhammad Ali. On June 6, 2019, the airport unveiled its new logo, featuring Ali's silhouette, arms up and victorious, against the background of a butterfly.
When working flight data/clearance delivery position in the tower I enjoy reading this clearance the most! For example “American 1234 you are cleared to the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport!! 😁via the ZACHH3 departure ,Little Rock transition as filed, climb via SID, and squawk 2342”
What Ali did in the boxing ring we know was great but it was his work outside of the ring that will live forever! Never back down. Never settle. Be mentality tough. Know thy self. Have high aspirations... Thank you Mr. Ali 🙏🏾

“The Champ is here!!! -Muhammad Ali voice 💥 🥊
Please get real familiar with this rising star for what he is doing on and more importantly off the course!
Champ’s foundation donated funds for two golf scholarships at !!! 🤩, a HBCU in Prairie View, Texas. The scholarships will be named after Champ’s late grandfather, Mack Champ 🙏🏾.
“My grandfather had such an incredible influence on my life and always inspired me in many ways. I’m so grateful for Pops introducing me to the game of golf, but also for teaching me that there’s so much more to life than golf. He always stressed the importance of giving back and paying it forward.
What better way to honor PaPa Champ. I see you Thank you for being you!

Bro. McNair was born October 21, 1950, in Lake City, South Carolina. In the summer of 1959, he refused to leave the segregated Lake City Public Library without being allowed to check out his books. After the police and his mother were called, he was allowed to borrow books from the library. BTW same library is named after him now 😎. Bro. McNair graduated as valedictorian of Carver High School in 1967. In 1971, he received a B.S, degree in Engineering Physics Magnum cm laude (of course) from North Carolina A&T.
In 1976, he received a Ph.D. degree in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology becoming nationally recognised for his work in the field of laser physics 🤩.
After graduation from MIT (receiving four honorary doctorates, a score of fellowships and commendations while achieving a 6th-degree black belt in taekwondo 😲!!!!
Bro. McNair is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity 🐶.

In 1978, McNair was selected as one of thirty-five applicants from a pool of ten thousand for the NASA astronaut program. He flew as a mission specialist on STS-41-B aboard Challenger from February 3 to February 11, 1984, becoming the second African American to fly in space rocket 🚀.

Following the STS-41-B mission, Bro. McNair was selected for STS-51-L as one of three mission specialists in a crew of seven. The mission launched on January 28, 1986. He was killed when Challenger disintegrated nine miles above the Atlantic Ocean 73 seconds after liftoff 😔.

Bro. McNair is still all around us everyday.A variety of public places, people ,and programs have been renamed in honor of Bro.McNair around the nation🙌🏾.

When William "Bill" Powell encountered racial discrimination on the golf course after returning home from World War II, he decided to build his OWN place to play, one where people of all colors would be welcome. In 1946, he established Clearview Golf Club in East Canton Ohio: “America’s Course.”
With the help of his wife, Marcella, Powell carved nine holes out of farmland while working nights as a security guard. Without traditional golf maintenance equipment, Bill began building his course by hand. He walked the fairways with just a hand seeder around his neck to plant every blade of grass. With a walk-behind mower to mow the greens, and an army jeep pulling gang mowers, he carefully manicured his 78-acre vision. He opened Clearview to the public in 1948, and in 1978 expanded the course to 18 holes.
The only course Designed, Built, OWNED and Operated by a Black-American😎. Clearview was named a National Historic Site by the U.S. Department of the Interior in 2001.
Today, Clearview is managed by his children Larry Powell, Superintendent, and Renee Powell, LPGA/PGA Head Golf Professional.
Btw, Bill Powell's daughter, Renee Powell learned to play on Clearview, went on to become the second black woman to play on the LPGA tour.
What’s stopping you? Create and support each other. I love this story!!!!
