Wears Woody

Wears Woody Born on the Cape with a California vibe. www.wearswoody.com Join our ride and !

It all began on Cape Cod over the summer of 2011 with a funky "Woody" Wagoneer and a trailer full of flip flops. Driving from beach to beach, and from one event to countless others all over New England, our namesake mascot sold thousands of pairs and made quite an impression on everyone along the way. Our early success proved that a cool-looking store on four wheels could really go places, so we g

ave Woody some help and built one with three -- "Wheels," a converted pedicab tricycle. Sales blew up and more and more people fell in love with our grassroots, direct-to-consumer approach to retail. In the summer of 2013, our quickly-growing crew introduced our own Wears Woody brand of goods -- proudly designed by us and made locally. Right alongside our commitment to producing quality goods and our unique way to bring them to market, our mission is to encourage people with diabetes to chase their wildest dreams and to look great doing it. Our founder has lived with Type 1 for almost four decades and we are proud to donate 10% of our profits to support diabetes non-profits in style.

With Patriots’ Day and the Boston Marathon just around the corner, we are honored to share Michael Chase’s remarkable story of resilience, courage, and purpose. His journey is a powerful reminder of the strength of the human spirit and the ways adversity can be transformed into impact.

Michael Chase is a survivor of the Boston Marathon bombing, as well as a keynote speaker, author, and the President and Founder of the Reflective Journey Foundation. Through his work and his story, he continues to inspire others with a message of healing, perseverance, and hope.

This interview was produced by JMU Marketing students Elizabeth Dunlop, William Reeves, and Julianna Marino through our ongoing collaboration with Professor Brooke Rhodes’s Social Media Marketing class during the Fall 2025 semester.

As we approach a time of remembrance, we hope you will watch, reflect, and share Michael’s story — one that speaks to the strength of the human spirit and the power of moving forward with purpose.
