The Fantastic Four 1967 TV series Cartoon Intro

Before the MCU and billion dollar blockbusters, there was the wild and wonderfully weird 1967 animated Fantastic Four cartoon!

Produced by the legendary Hanna-Barbera, this classic series brought Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and The Thing to Saturday morning TV with all the cosmic chaos, giant monsters, and Silver Age comic book fun fans could ask for.

The series had 20 episodes and is available in streaming services and directly from WB.

Trivia:

Due to licensing issues, the Human Torch was replaced in some episodes by a new character named H.E.R.B.I.E.-style precursor “H.E.R.B.I.E.” concepts years before the robot became famous in later Fantastic Four lore.

The show is briefly referenced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025).

The ownership of the show was split between Marvel Comics and Hanna-Barbera. The Walt Disney Company purchased Marvel Comics in late 2009. Prior to 2009, the show re-ran on Cartoon Network in the 1990s and on Boomerang in the early 2000s. Legal battles has happened between The Walt Disney Company, who owns Marvel, and Warner Bros. Animation, who inherited Hanna-Barbera in 2001.

Here is the entire intro to the series, enjoy and Be A Kid Again.... .

Masters of the Universe Target End Cap May 25th 2026

Target has out some of the new Masters of the Universe toys and they are pretty cool. They have two versions of the figures one is a basic version that is about $11 and a "vintage" carded version that is $22. The power sword is also very cool with some awesome features and priced a little over $40. Battlecat and some other movie vehicles are also available. Hasbro's website has more options but it is always fun to see them in the store and so many already being purchased. We snagged He Man for our collection.

One note, no Skeletor figures at all, but it appears he might be in the 2nd wave with other new characters so maybe we will see them on shelves closer to the movie or a little bit after.

Looking forward to seeing this film to Be A Kid Again....

Case fresh 1991 Score Rookie & Traded Glossy Player Set of 40 just landed in the Home Office and it is pure Junk Era goodness.

We spotted this one in another live auction and picked it up at a fair price. The set is not loaded with massive dollar cards, but that is part of the fun of the Junk Wax Era. There are still some great names packed inside including the rookie cards of 1995 AL MVP Mo Vaughn, 4-time World Series champion Tino Martinez, and 2-time World Series hero Jeff Conine from the Florida Marlins.

Mo, Jeff and Tino all had outstanding careers and helped make every team they played on better, which gives this set some lasting hobby value beyond just the price guide numbers.

We grabbed this set to add some affordable vintage flavor to our table at the next week in St. Augustine. Not everyone is shopping with PSA 10 money, and as dealers and collectors you have to look out for everybody in the hobby, from high-end investors to the kid hunting for fun cards and favorite players.

The Junk Era gets knocked a lot, but there was something magical about ripping packs in the late 80s and early 90s.

What was YOUR favorite Junk Era set?

Ours will always be 1986 and 1987 Topps Baseball and Football.

Auction Toy Lot Score with Masters of the Universe, Raisins and Rock N Roll Mickey Mouse.

Late last night an auction toy lot score made its way to the Mike’s Dead Formats home office and somehow we got very lucky on this one.

We have always had a soft spot in our black heart for the California Raisins. At one point we even tried chasing the world record for owning the most of them. So when this lot popped up loaded with Raisins, Blade from Masters of the Universe, and some wild Rock N Roll Mickey Mouse and Goofy PVC figures, we knew we had to take a shot at it. Somehow we pulled the winning bid.

We have owned and sold just about every Masters of the Universe figure out there that was not ultra rare, so finding Blade again was a blast. The Rock N Roll Mickey and Goofy PVC figures are from 1988 and have this strange Huey Lewis meets Back to the Future energy that instantly made us smile.

That is the magic of toy lots. You never know what weird mix of nostalgia is waiting inside the box.

What catches your eye in this haul? Tell us below and Be a Kid Again....

Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue is a 1990 American animated TV special starring many characters from television series at the time of its release.
Financed by McDonald's, Ronald McDonald Children's Charities, it was originally simulcast for a limited time on April 21, 1990, on all four major American television networks (by supporting their Saturday morning characters)

Plot:
The plot chronicles the exploits of Michael, a young teenage boy who is using drugs as well as stealing from his younger sister, Corey and drinking alcohol. . When Corey's piggy bank goes missing one morning, her cartoon toys come to life to help her find it.

Trivia:
McDonald's released a VHS home video edition of the special distributed by Buena Vista Home Video, which opened with an introduction from President George H. W. Bush, First Lady Barbara Bush and their dog, Millie.

The musical number "Wonderful Ways to Say No" was written by Academy Award-winning composer, Alan Menken and lyricist Howard Ashman, who also wrote the songs for Walt Disney Animation Studios' The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin.

The characters in the special are: Smurfs, ALF, Garfield, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger, Baby Kermit, Baby Miss Piggy, and Baby Gonzo, Slimer, Bugs Bunny, and Daffy Duck, TMNT Michelangelo and Huey, Dewey, and Louie.

Rumor is the special was never rerun or released on DVD because Garfield was not licensed within the permission of Jim Davis.

Jeff Bergman voiced Bugs and Daffy in this production since Mel Blanc passed in 1989.

The production has been considered a time capsule of animation history and has been ridiculed as propaganda and preachy. The special is not available on DVD and can only be found on VHS. The special is available on streaming services.

Below is a commercial promoting the special, enjoy and Be A Kid Again….
