How was everyone's New Year Day?! I truly hope everyone has found time to relax a little bit. It has been a wild ride! I felt reenergized around June - and then things started opening back up. It has been a year and half since I have been back into the School System full time - and while we are not exactly frontline workers, so many of us are essential making sure our district runs smoothly, the kids are SAFE and their education, socialization and needs are being met. The endless hours that my coworkers and I have put in is nothing short of amazing. I myself was putting in over 60+ hour weeks over the fall. I know I have said this before, but I really do want to pop on 'live' soon to chat with you all! Gosh I miss our conversations! The funny thing is what we did from 2016-2019 - going LIVE, having Zoom meetings/trainings with my team, being online 24/7.........actually became the norm FOR SO MANY of us in 2020! I want to fill you all in as well - the unexpected surgery, finding this amazing job and being back in my hometown, our families loss of my grandfather during a time we couldnt see anyone and how that was like, to not knowing what each day is going to bring....and then what my thoughts are for the future with our boutique!
I have had the pleasure of meeting some of the most amazing people running this boutique. From my very first vendor event at Emerald Square Mall to in home shopping parties, to our late night lives.....I got to know so many of you! Customers turned into friendships.

Because I care about all women and this needs to be known. NO. ONE. has any business telling you who or who can't support you in labor. Period. Please know your rights!
I fully intend on having a doula when the time comes.....I like to think I have great doctors & this wouldn't happen but you never know 😩
So, just. this. week. I have learned of several obstetric practices terminating care with their current pregnant clients who are planning to hire, or have hired, a doula. Most letters say "effective immediately" and some offices have posted signs in their offices "warning" women of their refusal to work with clients using doulas.
This tells me a couple things...
1. Doulas ARE successfully advocating at births when care providers are becoming manipulative, coercive, disrespectful, or otherwise abusive towards laboring and birthing women. And that advocacy is working.
2. Care providers are feeling a loss of POWER (and control) when serving women who are informed and educated on their rights as people and stand confident in that knowledge when the mistreatment begins. (Often, there is an association between informed pregnant women and those choosing to hire a doula.) As a result, these obstetricians are "taking matters into their own hands" and simply refusing to work with women who have the support of a doula.
Except...THE THING IS.... it's NOT any care provider's decision who pregnant families choose to have in their birthing space. Ever. Anywhere. And honestly, pregnant women should not be ASKING care providers for their "thoughts" or "permission" to have doula support at their baby's birth. The idea that these OBs believe they have the authority to even weigh in on this decision is mind-blowing. THAT is how much power they've been told they have over their client's care, and they don't like it when it's threatened or removed.
What is the solution to this asinine behavior?
If you're pregnant and birthing in a hospital, YOU STILL NEED A DOULA REGARDLESS OF THESE "POLICIES" THAT THESE OBs ARE STATING. DO NOT allow these people to TALK YOU OUT OF the unmatched support of a doula at your baby's birth.
There is overwhelming evidence that doulas improve birthing outcomes and any obstetrician, or midwife, that refuses to "allow" the presence of a doula at your baby's birth is NOT one you want attending your baby's birth....!
So, if you are seeing a doctor that says "I don't work with/collaborate with doulas", RUN out the door of that office and choose someone else for your prenatal care. DO NOT allow that kind of behavior to sway YOUR decision for what YOU want for your baby's birth. (Sidenote: doulas work for the families that hired them, bound by a contract. They do not “collaborate” with doctors or midwives. They have a completely separate job/role altogether.)
When we run away from providers like that to switch to someone else who will actually care for us, and then STILL HIRE A DOULA, that will organically turn into a boycott for these absurd doctors who believe they have a right to state their OPINION on doulas. They will lose clients as a result. End of story.
This both infuriates me....AND tells me we ARE making waves as doulas ❤
🙏🙏 When you accept ‘less of’ something....you are teaching small 👀 it is OK to “settle.” Never accept “less of” anything. Never settle. You deserve genuine love. Not the love you get because someone feels like they ‘owe you’. Not the ‘feel bad for you’ kinda love either. You deserve true, honest, love.

Once I had a taste of LuLaRoe, feeling how amazing the fit was, getting lost in the beautiful colors and patterns, something I NEVER could find in my size without paying a fortune, I finally broke up with my monotonous closet about 5 years ago. The very first piece was a maxi skirt and it fit like a glove PLUS it was stunning! Every single piece of LuLaRoe I own get complimented. After falling in love with the clothes and the brand, it was time. It was time to quit my 9 to 5 and jumped in head first. I love a good outfit! From the shoes to the makeup to the hair. Every detail being well thought out. I wasn’t always this in love with clothing though. I bought clothes cause I ‘had to’. The colors of my closet consisted of black, grey, black, black and white, black and then some more black. As for makeup and shoes though......them two never let me down. I started styling others online and in-person. Women I never met before, would come over and tell me their struggles, we got to know one another and related in so many ways. After they left, I always followed up with them or they came back over in a few weeks. The pure joy they had
Fast forward a year later, I wanted to share the love of fashion and makeup with other women. I invested in building our 2500-3000 piece inventory; carrying a huge selection of dresses, tops, skirts, leggings with a sprinkle of kids and men’s styles as well, with making sure I had a size for EVERY woman who walked into my home. That was the most important. I know what its like to not find something in your size and I never wanted that for anyone who I met. We carry women's sizes 00-32. There is truly something for everyone! A Business Professional can choose from a variety of pencil skirts and button down blouses or opt for our one of a kind pleated or lace mid length skirts, then we have our beautiful dresses that have hidden pockets! If you choose a more Business Casual, work from home, stay at home....’whatever it may be’ attire, we truly have something for everyone.
This is when #DanisDressingRoom was born. Customers gathered and joined our FB group and it quickly grew to an all around fashion and beauty group. I love sharing what I know, from style tips, makeup tutorials, shoe choices, hair styles, pattern mixing do’s and dont’s, so much more than actually selling the brands we carry. I always wanted to have a place where like minded women can go to at the end of the day and relax! Share their OOTD, tell us about their latest vacation, a new milestone in their family, their makeup look or a great deal they found at a store! Whatever it may be, we now have a place to go!
We once uploaded inventory to the albums of this group - but NOW we have our own website - shopdanikstylez.com . However, as a PERK of being part of the dressing room - members get a sneak peak before the public of what comes in for NEW inventory. I also just love hopping on a LIVE in the group and sharing what we have in stock.
