I love seeking out creative experiences wherever I go. What a wonderful bracelet making workshop with .tamai_beads in the cozy space at . I learned about Akiko through and how lucky for me there was a class being offered while I was in Tokyo. It was a beautiful experience to learn through seeing rather than words, as the class was primarily in Japanese.

Among my typical muted color palette choices of seed beads, I added one tiny yellow one. I asked Akiko what she thought and her answer rang true for me in every way. The smallest things change everything.

There is no better cozy and peaceful feeling for me than tucking myself in a cabin in the woods. This one especially. I never want to leave!

Applying tints to a paper flower changes everything.

What is a paper laboratory, you might ask?

We’re living in a time where everything seems to need to be fast and certain.
Imagine a space where time expands ~ an invitation to contemplate, to try, to not have to know any of the answers, where ideas are born.

This Fall, will guide us through our Paper Toys retreat at ~ three days immersed in the versatility of paper. We’ll deconstruct it; wax, shred, shape, fold and crumple it. In the making, we’ll be reminded that there is no single way of working, but many, and that each one opens infinite possibilities.

Each participant will take home a variety of small paper sculptures, a new way of seeing this most humble material, and a deeper awareness of how slowing down transforms the creative process. I love every bit of this.
