Here's a time capsule from 1957, a pair of Billy the Kid Texan jeans, featuring the reinforced Saf-T-Nee. I love the stars on the rivets, and it's so nice for folks like us that someone penciled the exact date on the paper flasher. Check out some of the attached advertisements at the end of the post for more of their original selling points. Also- how cool are the "feel these jeans after 20 washings" display models in the 1960 ad?

Horse purse.

There's a lot of variation in the classic midcentury leather western purse. A lot were kits you would buy and do the leather tooling yourself at home. Some were made by professional saddlemakers and leatherworkers. Some were made in small workshops in Mexico. Because the vast majority weren't made by big brands, there's a ton of customization and personalization, from names and initials to your favorite flowers.

We have these sprinkled throughout the shop, be sure to check every flat surface in here for more.

We're open 7 days a week, 10-6, on N 7th in beautiful Bozeman, Montana!

These '50s ranch jackets are kind of their own thing. Heavier than a sportcoat, not quite a regular jacket. The thickness of the material always makes for dramatic yoke details. This one has really interesting crosshatched stitching details on the lapels and pseudo-norfolk front straps.

We have a couple nice examples of these in the shop right now, first rack on the right in the back room!

Back in the day, you could send your deer hide to Mid Western Sport Togs of Berlin, Wisconsin. They would tan it and tailor it into any number of goods, from gloves to arrow quivers. Their fringe jackets were one of their most popular products.

I've said it before, but I love the fringe jackets made by companies like Mid Western and Uber and a few others in that region. With the soft deerskin and the finer, shorter fringe, I feel they're so much more wearable day-to-day than the heavier cowhide suede varieties.

We have a fully stocked rack of fringe jackets at the shop right now, so come on over and find yours today!

I started in the vintage clothing world in 2005 exclusively dealing in vintage hats, and they still hold a special place in my heart. Not only practical pieces of headgear, they're one of the most expressive accessories.

Many vintage hats were originally sold with an open crown, meaning they had a domed top that the shop or the owner could shape to their individual taste, and either a flat or flanged brim, that likewise would be shaped by hand.

Unlike the machine stamped crowns and brims of many modern hats, older hats had real character, and only got more as they were worn. A good fur felt cowboy hat is a tough thing, and doesn't need to be babied. With a little care, one can last a life time and beyond.

We have dozens of cowboy hats in the shop right now, from be**er straws right up through custom-made beauties. Come on over and try a few on, we're open 10-6, 7 days a week in Bozeman, MT

We have a lot of vintage bandanas in the shop right now, but these ones are exceptional. Not only do they have great patterns, with a classic polka dot on the trunk down Elephants, and dynamic western motifs on the Swagger Scarfs, they're also deadstock!
It's always amazing to me when something can survive over seven decades without someone deciding to wear it.

Come see us over on N 7th in Bozeman, we're open every day of the week, 10am-6pm!
