It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our “J” from D&J’s Good Ole Days. Joe left his earthly home and went on to his next great adventure last evening. Although we are devastated by this loss we are also comforted in the fact that he’s probably already struck some sort of deal with God himself. Joe loved being down at his store, wheeling and dealing, and making new friends. The last years of his life were some of his happiest traveling the country side with DeAnn, finding bargains, and bringing home more stuff. He never met a stranger, loved his customers, never passed up the chance to tell a whopper of a story, and cooked a meal for anyone who would sit at his table. Although he had to be away from his store the last several months he never stopped making jokes, telling stories, and attempting to be a matchmaker for every nurse and nurse aide he encountered. Joe made sure we all knew he’d had a wonderful life and was ready for the next… and in some of his own last words “it’s been a hell of a ride.”
