Empanada is back at PRC and we’re hoping this time, his stay is much shorter!❤️

Formerly known as Chief, this 6 year old water loving boy spent over 13 months in the shelter during his first stay. He finally left in January, only to return in early August after his owner was evicted and arrested. Through no fault of his own, he’s starting over again.

But Empanada hasn’t lost who he is. He still heads straight to the pool, splashes in the water, enjoys the hose, and plays fetch with squeaky toys and tennis balls. He takes treats gently, sits close for affection, and explores the garden with a calm energy. He bonds slowly, but once he trusts you, he’s loyal, gentle, and deeply rewarding to love.

Empanada is a good dog who has been through too much instability. He deserves a home where he can settle, explore, and finally belong.

Let’s make sure he doesn’t wait another year. If you’re looking for a resilient, affectionate, water loving companion, Empanada is ready — and he’s been ready for a long time.

PRC’s Cutest Little BEAN! ✨🌱

If you’ve ever wanted a dog who’s equal parts goofy, splashy, playful, snuggly, and bean-shaped, Pinto is your guy. This handsome legume has been at PRC far too long, and it’s time he finally sprouts into his forever home. 💚

💚 Why Pinto is the prime bean of PRC:
• Loves carrying toys into the kiddie pool, plopping down, and chewing happily
• Fetch, tug, squeakers, plushies… this bean LOVES toys
• Sits, stays, and takes treats gently
• Recognizes his name and comes when called
• Prefers small dog groups and does best with female friends

Even after 270+ days, Pinto still brings joy, silliness, and a whole lot of heart to every single outing. He just needs a family who appreciates his bean-ness — his playfulness, his love for toys, his splash sessions, and his gentle sweetness.

Jaxon has been with us for over 200 days, and his story is one we truly hope ends with a forever home.

He arrived in early February as a stray. He was underweight, in rough condition, and clearly having had a hard time before he made it to us. His intake photo shows a dog who had been carrying far too much on his own.

But today, Jaxon is almost unrecognizable.

With time, care, and consistency, he’s filled out, brightened up, and discovered a huge love for water. Whether it’s a kiddie pool, a hose, or a splash session in the yard — it’s where he’s happiest. He’s done incredibly well with staff, volunteers, and on his Adventure Tails outings, showing us again and again what a friendly, resilient dog he is.

Unfortunately, after 200+ days in the shelter, Jaxon is starting to show anxiety in his kennel. He needs an “out” soon. A foster, an adopter, someone who can help him continue this upward trajectory before stress sets him back.

Jaxon has already proven he can transform with just a little support. Now, he needs a home to finish that transformation.

Our Big, Sweet, Goofy Boy 🤎🐾

Walten came in as a stray back in mid March, and from day one it’s been clear: He is 80 pounds of pure himbo energy.

Sure, he barks at his kennel door like he’s auditioning for security detail but get him outside?
🧸 He turns into a soft, wiggly stuffed animal destroyer.
🐾 He knows sit and paw (and he shows them off proudly).
💗 He stays glued to your side for nonstop pets.
🍪 Takes treats like a polite gentleman.
🌞 Loves flopping under a bench, sniffing around, or carrying toys he may or may not “accidentally” shred.

In foster, Walten showed his true heart:
He’s thoughtful, calm in the home, house trained, patient, respectful, and incredibly loyal.
He’ll wait for permission to jump on the couch, loves hanging out with his people, and wants nothing more than to be someone’s big ol’ best friend.
He’s a strong, oversized sweetheart who sometimes gets a little too excited around new people or dogs — but with kind guidance and patience, this big mushball shines.

✨ Walten is the lovable himbo hero who just needs a person to match his big heart and bigger personality. ✨

Squishie has been waiting far too long for his chance.❤️

He came to us in early March as a stray — dangerously overweight, struggling to move, and clearly neglected. Because he had a known owner, Squishie spent over 3 months on an investigation hold, watching people walk past his kennel day after day, never understanding why he couldn’t leave.

Now finally cleared for adoption, this sweet boy is just hoping someone will see him.
Despite everything, Squishie still offers gentle wiggles, leans in for pets, rolls over for belly rubs, and warms up beautifully to new people. He’s playful in small bursts, loves companionship, and has overcome a heartworm diagnosis.

He’s been overlooked for months… but he hasn’t given up.

✨ Squishie deserves a home that will love him, protect him, and never let him feel forgotten again. ✨

The Playtime Princess of PRC! 🎾🐾

Twig arrived in mid February, and ever since, this young adult pup has been a one dog party. If a toy exists, Twig will find it and then zoom around the yard like she’s starring in her own action movie.

This silly sweetheart LOVES:
• Chasing every toy ever made
• Splashing in the pool with her tennis ball
• Playing fetch (with excellent toy trading skills!)
• Catching tossed treats like a pro
• Sitting pretty and offering her paw

Twig is pure sunshine in dog form. Joyful, wiggly, hilarious, and always ready to play. She’s not much of a cuddler, but she’ll happily let you pet her between rounds of fetch. And once she finds her favorite toy? She carries it proudly all the way back to her kennel.

Twig is the perfect match for anyone looking for a fun, energetic best friend who turns every day into playtime.

A Survivor Still Searching for His Second Chance 💔🐾

Snoop’s story is not an easy one — but it’s one that deserves to be heard.

This senior boy arrived in late March after something truly unimaginable happened. While running at large one night, most likely frightened and overwhelmed, Snoop was shot in the face by a civilian after approaching them while growling. His owner was located, and facing incredibly difficult times, made the heartbreaking decision to surrender him so Snoop could finally receive safety, care, and the chance at a better beginning.
And somehow, Snoop has kept his gentle heart.

In the months since, this resilient pup has shown us who he really is:
• Calm, steady, and easy to leash
• A dedicated explorer who loves sniffing every corner of the yard and garden
• A dog who enjoys soft pets and quiet companionship
• Polite and friendly with people he meets
• Happy to walk beside volunteers and rest under benches at their feet

Snoop isn’t demanding. He isn’t loud. He isn’t needy.

He’s simply a senior soul who has been through too much and still chooses gentleness.
He deserves a home that will honor the second chance his owner hoped for — a place full of patience, quiet walks, soft beds, and people who will never let him face the world alone again.🖤🐾
