Achieve Athletics announces the winners for 2017.
Congratulations to Gabby Martin formerly from Daniel Hand High School in Madison ,CT.,and to Joshua Palmer formerly from East Haven High School.

Both of these outstanding student-athletes continue to Achieve both On and Off the Field!

Our prestigious awards will be presented to both of them at The 7th Annual Achieve Athletics Scholarship Award Breakfast ceremony held at the Omni Hotel In New Haven CT, on November 24th.

Joshua Palmer of East Haven High School is currently a senior and has played varsity golf for three years. This season, Joshua was named captain of the EHHS golf team, and the recipient of the SCC Scholar Leader Award.
Joshua is not only active in the sports, but also in academics and the community. Through hard work and dedication to his class studies, Joshua was awarded the Salutatorian of his class. In addition, Joshua is a 4 year member of the award winning EHHS Marching Band, the Vice President of his class, a SADD leader, and an active member of math league and winter percussion ensemble. Joshua maintains a GPA of 5.06 and has future plans to attend Yale University in the fall to study engineering.

Some of Joshua's community service include volunteering at the local food pantry and Traveler's Golf Tournament, and participating in his local church group Kids For Christ for the last 5 years.

Keira Integlia of Branford High School is currently a senior and participates in both BHS indoor and outdoor track, as well as BHS field hockey. This season, she was selected captain for indoor/outdoor track, and second time field hockey captain. In Keira’s 2015-2016 field hockey season, she had been awarded 2nd Team All-SCC, and 2nd Team All-State. In the following season (2016-2017), Keira has been awarded 1st Team All-State, and 1st Team All-SCC. The field hockey team won SCC Field Hockey Champions in 2016. Keira has been a Futures Field Hockey member for 4 years. As of 2017, she is a Futures Regional Team alternate. For the 2015 & 2016 seasons, Keira was a part of the NFHCA All-Academic Team. In 2015 and 2017, she won the SCC West Sectional Javelin Championship.

Keira has started in all 60 field hockey games she has played in since 2014. Out of those games, she has had 54 GA, her GAA stands at .90, and 26 shutouts. As for Tack & Field, her PR Javelin is 109.9 ft, OR Shot is 31.4 ft, and PR Discus is 80.4 ft.

Keira is not only active in sports, but also in academics and the community. She carries a GPA of 3.65, and is Vice President of the class of 2017 at BHS. Keira is a 4 year honors student and was awarded the Excellence in Student Government and Community Service by CT Senator Chris Murphy. She is a member of the BHS choir and is a Best Buddies Officer. Keira is also fond of participating in charitable work for HammerFest Triathlon, Exchange Club, and McGuirk’s summer & spring youth field hockey clinics.

Trey Duval of Branford High School is currently a senior and was selected captain of the BHS soccer team this season. With his excellent foot skills and passing range ability, Trey won the State Title with the varsity team in the 2014-2015 season.

Trey is an inspiration both on and off the field. His GPA remains a 3.6, while he is highly involved at BHS. He is a member of the BHS physics club. Trey also takes on a large responsibility being the leader of the DECA club, as well as the BHS Future Business leader. In addition, Trey was selected Rotary International Student of the Month. Outside of sports and academics, Trey loves to give back by completing charity work.

Brandon DePalma of East Haven High School is currently a senior and has been a part of the EHHS varsity basketball team since his freshman year. He was also involved in the EHHS baseball team through his freshman and sophomore year.

During this year’s basketball season, Brandon played a major role in the team’s achievements. He provided leadership to his fellow teammates by making sure everyone was in the correct positions and focused on the same game plan.

Brandon is just as much of a leader in the classroom as he is on the court. He holds an impressive GPA of 4.7. Brandon has future plans of attending University of New Haven on a Presidential Scholarship, where he will be majoring in National Security.

Carol Frye of Branford High School is currently a senior and a double sport athlete. Carol has been selected captain of the BHS field hockey team for the 2016-2017 season, and has been starting since she was a freshman. In field hockey, Carol was awarded SCC 1st Team All-Conference, All-Area, and 1st Team All-State. Carol is also a member of the BHS tennis team, where she has been positioned a starter for the past two years.

In addition to Carol’s excellence in sports, she excels in the classroom. Carol maintains an outstanding GPA of 4.3. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Between school and sports, Carol also finds time for volunteering around her community.

Ryan Sember of Branford High School is currently a senior and a double sport athlete. This season, he was selected captain of the BHS basketball team, and second time captain of the BHS golf team.

In golf, Ryan has been awarded 1st Team All-State 2016, and 1st Team All-Area 2016. As a sophomore, Ryan won 12th place in State Tournament. In 2017, he was selected to the all SCC team in Golf. Ryan’s 18 hole average was 75, and his tournament scoring average was 76.

Ryan is a hard worker both on off the field. He maintains a GPA of 3.4, and participates in AP and honors classes. He also is involved in Chemistry Club. Ryan has future plans to attend McDaniel College in Westminster, MD, in the fall. There, he looks forward to playing and contributing at the college level.

Gabby Martin of Daniel Hand High School, is currently a senior and a multi-sport athlete, excelling in DHHS’ basketball, golf, and cross country teams. This academic year, Gabby was selected captain of all three teams.

Gabby earned medalist at the first Southern Connecticut Conference tournament for girls golf in 2017. In addition she was given the title of The Harford Courant Girl Golfer of the Year for 2016. Her prominent skills won her tournaments at Duke in North Carolina, Bethpage in New York, and she was the youngest female winner at Clinton Country Club. In cross country, Gabby was awarded All Conference for the SCC.

As for basketball, Gabby is the leading scorer for the team and averages 15 points, 5 steals and assists per game. She was selected on the CT All-State, and won MVP honors in the State tournament as well. Gabby joined the ranks of the most elite by becoming a 1,000 point scorer this year.

In addition to Gabby’s success in sports, she is successful in the classroom. Gabby holds a GPA of 3.68, is a member of the National Honors Society and will attend Williams College next fall. Outside of sports, Gabby donates her time to community service and is involved in charitable work.

Adrienne DiGioia of Branford High School is currently a senior and a double sport scholar athlete, playing volleyball and basketball. Adrienne was selected as captain of the BHS volleyball team this season. She was awarded All-SCC Oronoque DIV in 2015 and 2016. In 2017, Adrienne was awarded 1st Team All-SCC, All-Area, and 1st Team All-State. Adrienne was also selected as a captain of the BHS basketball team this season. In basketball, she was awarded Class L All-State and two time All-SCC first team.

Adrienne excels both on an off the field. She holds a 3.7 GPA, placing herself a member of the National Honor Society and World Language Honor Society.

Off the court, Adrienne enjoys to sing. At Branford High School, she is involved in concert choir. Adrienne also is involved in her community, where she volunteers regularly.
