ROUND TOP ANTIQUES WEEK IS HERE!
There are a couple tips that I love to share with anyone planning to take on the mother of all flea markets. It can be very hard to comprehend the magnitude of this event if you’ve never laid eyes on the famous flea market fields. Each venue is unique, but these tips will help you navigate the general atmosphere of Antiques Week.
👉🏼 You Will Be Overwhelmed
Antiques Week is a lot to take in! It’s very big and full of thousands of vendors. Deciding ahead of time which places you want to shop can help cut down on the chaos! Try researching some of the venues to get an idea of what you like. There is a wide variety in what you’ll see, so take it all in and then get to shopping!
👉🏼 Wear Comfy Shoes
I can’t stress this enough, you will be walking a ton, so supportive shoes are a necessity! Some venues are side by side, so you’ll park and walk between fields and barns full of vintage treasure. Having a wagon or cart to haul your goodies isn’t a bad idea either!
👉🏼 Cash Is King
I’m willing to bet that a majority of vendors take cards, but reception can be spotty, so to be on the safe side, use cash! Since Round Top is a very small town with just one gas station, the number of ATMs is slim. Some venues bring in ATMs for the show, but sometimes the fees can be high, so plan ahead!
👉🏼 Cell Service Is Spotty
Like I mentioned, cell service is in and out. Sometimes you have full bars, then you walk a couple feet and have nothing. If you’re with a group and you decide to split up your junk hunting, make a plan ahead of time to meet back at a certain place at a certain time. Your text or calls probably won’t go through, so prepare to be “off-grid”
👉🏼 Dress In Layers
Texas weather is crazy, so dressing in layers prepares you for anything! One day it’ll be sunny and hot, but then the next it’ll be pouring. Don’t let the weather stop you from scoring your Pinterest worthy pieces, so outsmart the Texas weather! I suggest packing a jacket, hat, umbrella, and sunglasses!
👉🏼 Operating Hours Vary
Each venue sets their own show date and time. If you’re wanting to shop a specific place, check their operation times! The majority of venues run from 10am-6pm, but many have early bird hours or late night shopping events, so don’t fret!
I could probably go on and on, but the best part about Round Top Antiques Week is learning as you go. You’ll be drawn to different venues and you may even prefer to shop one of the surrounding towns. There is truly something for everyone!
Unfortunately, we are not set up this year. You would normally find our little vintage furniture and home decor booth inside the historic Zapp Hall in Warrenton, TX. Instead you can shop our vintage at The Revival Mercantile in downtown Brenham!
