I’ve been doing chalkboard signs for 10 years.

First at Jaime’s Creole and Market at 36 where I was in charge of writing the daily special menus. Kept it as simple as possible. Now, I have full creative freedom.

Yes, the ink still drips, the words don’t always fit the way I want, and I still have to scratch entire designs. Sometimes a rainstorm washes away all my work. It can take hours, because now I actually let myself have fun with it.

Will I go crazy with color? Perhaps compose a message of meaning or a riddle? Fill one side with doodles and keep the other side clean and professional?

My creative ambitions are my work. From merchandising to marketing. I don’t have much time for my silly lil crafting spirit unless it’s actually at work and I see that as a blessing (find me in the store making earrings allllll winter!)

The options are endless when it comes to the Penny Lane experience, but one thing’s for sure— we make that annual $100 sidewalk-usage fee to the city worth every cent!

and I will ALWAYS let you know you can bring in your pet companions! Dogs, cats, rats, bunnies, pigs, geckos, snakes, we’ve seen it all. All are welcome. Thanks for being here 💕🌀
