My client bought a beautiful mother of the bride dress but she wished for it to be a bit more modest. I was able to purchased a matching fabric to fill in the top and we shortened the sleeves just enough to have enough fabric to overlay the added V with the tulle. I also took up the shoulders and hemmed the dress. I love projects like this that are a little different from normal alterations.

The Loop is a must-visit if you find yourself in Middlebury, IN! It has everything—from clothing and housewares to pet supplies, kids’ items, and everything in between. I stop in several times a month because the selection is always changing. Plus, the owner is one of the nicest and most helpful person you’ll ever meet!

Upcycle project for my own wardrobe! I don’t do personal projects very often but I love it when I do which makes me wish I did them more often. I thrifted this coat a couple months ago. It’s well made but two sizes too big. A bit of tailoring and it fits beautifully!

A Christmas present project. This robe was my Grandma’s and is very old. It had some tears and the lining was falling apart so I made some pillows out of it for my Mom. I think the blue is silk and it was very delicate due to its age. I added some backing for reinforcement and handled the fabric very carefully and they turned out great!

Christmas presents for my eight oldest nieces and nephews. It was so fun figuring out how to make them match their unique personalities. I love the amount of pockets (including cup pockets!) each bag has but I learned not to procrastinate until the week before Christmas next time I decided to sew something for eight Christmas presents.

I don’t think this bride could have picked a more perfect belt! It looks like it was made for the dress! Added the belt, shortened the straps, let out the waist, shortened the hem, and added a bustle.

Loved working on this wedding gown costume! My client went to a Twilight Festival in Washington and wanted to dress as one of the characters but the gown was 2 to 3 sizes too big. I took the gown in through the sides and bust, took up the straps, replaced the sheer center V panel with fabric from the hem, hemmed the dress, and sewed in the sleeves that my client purchased from the bridal shop.
I love how it turned out!

My client saw a dress online she loved but it wasn’t available anymore so she purchased a sheer button down top and skirt which I sewed into a dress, replaced the buttons with these beautiful statement sliver buttons, created a dramatic leather collar and cuffs, made a leather belt, and hemmed the skirt.

Absolutely stunning bride!! She wanted puffed sleeves and more coverage on the back of the dress so I created these custom sleeves that connect in the back to create more coverage. The appliqué around the top is from the original straps and the gowns original buttons connect the sleeve in the back.

Other alterations included: Removing the straps, replacing and adding boning, replacing the zipper with a corset back, taking in the sides and bust, covering part of the deep V with appliqué for more coverage and adding a bustle.
