This Week’s Photo of the Week was shot by NDN Press co-photo editor Ella Owens (‘26).

Ella shot this photo during the varsity boys golf tournament, hosted by Hardin-Jefferson, at the Beaumont Country Club last Monday.

It was the team’s second tournament of the year, after participating in a Kelly-hosted tournament in October.

As the team made its way around the course, Ella captured Mike Bartlett (‘27) teeing off, making good use of great settings (1/4000, F2.8, ISO 320) for an awesome exposure, a shallow depth of field and the splittest of split-second grabs of the golf ball still in frame.

The varsity boys golf team will be back in action Feb. 5 as it travels to the Anahuac tournament at the Chambers County Golf Course.

The JV boys will hit the links Tuesday as Nederland hosts a JV tournament.

CONGRATS to Ava Borne (‘25), Tatum Bean (‘25) and Foster Cecka (‘27), honored tonight during the annual Babe Zaharias High School Junior Golf Awards at 5 Under Golf Center in Beaumont.

On the girls side, Tatum earned Girls Player of the Year while Ava earned the Girls Character Award.

On the boys side, Foster earned the Boys Character award.
