Hooks, Yarns and Stitches I make crocheted sweaters, hats, scarves, headbands, cowls, shrugs and shawls. All items are handmade with quality yarns and embellishments.

Price varies on size/yarn type used. Custom orders on all sweaters, shrugs and shawls require a 30% non-refundable down payment. Payments to be made by cash, money order or certified check only.

My second shipment to my friends at Rural Resources in Colville, WA arrived safe and sound last week. I am so very blessed to be able to do what I do. I thank God every day that He has allowed me this chance to give back and help people.

Mike has also made a request. He'd like me to start making some items that can be donated to the VA Medical Center, like lapghans, hats, scarves, slippers. If anyone has any other ideas please share them with me. I'd enjoy the input.

While I was sick I taught myself how to make these squares. They're called Starburst Squares, but I think they look like flowers, with the center, then the inner and outer petals, framed in a square. I used them to make the Lapghan, which I love because it's the perfect size for cuddling up on the couch. Plus I love all the colors! I did the same squares only using pastel colors for the pillow. It makes a nice accent on either the bed or the couch.

Either can be made with your choice of colors.

Lapghan: $40

Some words of advice if you like to crochet and you use those free patterns you can find on the Web: some of them are not all that they're cut up to be. I found a really cute (and what seemed like a simple) pattern for a lapghan. It came from a reputable company. However, two rows into it things were not turning out they way they should have. I ripped out what I'd done and started over...same thing happened again...and for a third time. Frustrated I began picking the pattern apart and discovered there were errors (several of them). It's a good thing I'm patient and stubborn. Three days into the project and FINALLY I got it all worked out and now the lapghan is coming along beautifully. Can't wait to finish it so I can post pics.

Time to leave winter behind and move towards spring and summer. Going to Hobby Lobby on Saturday to grab a stash of cotton yarn. Now, if the weather would only warm up. I'm always impatient this time of the year. :-)
