To my love-
I never thought being a mother was in the cards for me. I was never the little girl or young woman who dreamed of having children. I just couldn’t picture it for me.

And then I met you.

A conscious man in touch with his feminine who works just as hard as me and is always working to be better.
Whose sense of order and cleanliness matches mine and I have never felt more met in everyday household things as well as growing our business and life together. I never feel like you are slacking on us.

Your desire and passion to be a father is undeniable. You were meant to be a Papa. And what a disservice to the world to deny you the privilege to influence a little man. To raise one with as much sensitivity, creativity, work-ethic, sense of adventure, independence, passion, and self awareness as his beautiful Papa Bear.

With you I felt like, “hey—we can do this.” The timing of where we are in our life, our dreams and goals, and what we want our life to be together is only made better by the addition of our little Koa. I am in awe of you everyday, Evan Nathaniel Kirkpatrick Collier—and I am so excited to watch you step into your Kingdom.

Koa David Michael Collier,

Today you are 39 weeks and 5 days old. Your “official” due date is Wednesday—May 15th but you are planning a fashionably late entrance just like your Papa—I’m sure of it.

I want you to know—how much your father and I love one another. How committed we are to our love and relationship as a reflection of our love for you. You were made with a lot of love and intention.

Your father and I are very passionate about what we are doing in this life (and one another) and we want to instill that in you. Because a life without passion isn’t worth a damn. Our lives are more than just about you, but they are certainly made greater because of you—and in this I hope you learn independence and to follow your dreams—just like we are following ours.

We are here to support you on this journey and help you grow into the best most strong and confident version of Koa. You are wanted. You are important. You are already so loved.

Closing out the work I did last fall/winter on the house (why didn’t I take before and after pics!?) the wallpaper that was in the foyer and stairwell was insane so old it was already coming off but I had NO IDEA what I was getting into — it was way more than just removing wallpaper bc the wallpaper also removed sections of the drywall and and and this was a job. But it had to be done.

Part 2
Since I wasn’t going to remodel the kitchen (which is what most people do when they sell their house—kitchen and baths sell homes - apparently) I last minute also decided to embark on this paint and wallpaper job—leaving all the old appliances and doing nothing but painting, updating cabinet hardware, and removing wallpaper (and in some instances just painting right over it.)

I always tell people if you can’t do anything but paint—PAINT.

I’ve been absent for a while on social media. The last year has been the most challenging of my life thus far, and I’m kinda willing to bet maybe of my entire life.

Losing my mom to ovarian cancer and then the process of dealing with the house which I wasn’t really planning on taking months but when I got there it had lost power on the hottest most humid week and all the walls mildewed where the ac ducts were—-creating a spiral of me painting — and ripping 35 year old wallpaper down.

What was meant to be a couple weeks turned into 3 months and to top it off I found out I was pregnant as soon as I got there and was insanely sick the entire time.

But I still made it happen.
Organized a massive estate sale and did the biggest sale day alone (my dad and brother had to work.) With a huge help and lift from my incredible father after work hours (whom I couldn’t have managed without) and some mild yet critical assists from my bro—it happened and sold after being on the market for a weekend.

(The staging was done by my agent and it kills me for real but I didn’t have furniture etc in STL — major improvement either way just not what I would have done.)

Really wish I would have taken before pics. I found this old photo though, so you can see what a little paint can do for real.
