Recreated from the townhouse’s original designs, these shutters were made in collaboration with .build and finished with extraordinary care. We love how they filter light through the room, shifting throughout the day - a favorite corner in this beautiful Fort Greene townhouse. ☀️

It was an honor to be part of the Korean Architects Association of NY’s “KAANY Architecture Forum: From Designer to Leader” last week. Fellow Korean architects and designers shared inspiring reflections on the many phases of their professional journeys with a room full of emerging designers. We are always learning from the ideas, values, and energy of both current and next generations and are continually energized by the exchange. Grateful to be part of such an open, generous design community that is central to our work.

Thank you for the invitation, .nyc
And thank you for your inspiring words, .lighting . It was a privilege to share the stage with you.

For this Fort Greene rooftop bathroom, we drew inspiration from serene Eastern bathhouses and Switzerland’s Therme Vals. Being on the top floor gave us the chance to add a skylight and bring natural light into this interior space.

We are really excited and honored that BLA’s Cobble Hill townhouse project is featured in the Open House section of the November issue of ! Designed for a growing family, this 4,000 sq. ft. Brooklyn home includes a stunning cherrywood-paneled solarium that seamlessly extends into a reimagined garden, creating a bright and spacious environment to grow. Collaborating closely with a young creative couple, the design focused on a warm, functional, and minimalist aesthetic—innovative yet unpretentious and highly livable. Energy efficiency and environmental mindfulness were prioritized throughout with beautiful wood finishes and thoughtful textures.

Many thanks to Interior Design and and Helene Oberman for including this project in such an inspiring issue. Also grateful to the talented design team that led this project, and the photo crew that did such a great job capturing the space.

Light is not so much something that reveals, as it is itself the revelation.
—James Turrell

At Bo Lee Architects we think about light—a lot. We carefully consider how natural light can shape space and its impact on the well-being of our clients. These are just a few of our projects that have been transformed by light—through the addition or expansion of skylights, solariums, rear deck exposures, and widened windows and doors. More than just letting the sunshine in, it shifts the ways in which we think, and feel connected to our environments.

Our goal was to create a calm and relaxing environment where the owner can retreat in our Fort Greene Roof Top Apt Project. We created a small skylight to let natural light in and then introduced natural stone and wood finishes. We also created storage space for everyday use. Swipe for the Before Photo.
