Faviola Lopez-Romani will set up a drop in Maiz Morado (Purple Corn) watercoloring activities where the public can discover a range of color potential housed in tiny pH-sensitive corn kernels. Maiz Morado is the principal ingredient in the pre-columbian Andean, celebratory beverage Chicha Morada.

Elizabeth Meggs will make block prints! The advent of printing changed life as we know it on planet Earth. Come learn about, discover, and explore early printing techniques using block printing, humankind’s earliest printing technology that was developed in China over a thousand years ago. Participants can make their own fine art prints using water-soluble ink on paper, with printing blocks pre-carved by hand by Elizabeth Meggs. Guests will enjoy printing fun family-friendly images such as bodega cats, spring flowers, and more!

Karyn Lao explores the pompom as an object that represents community— many parts connected by a common thread. She sculpts pompoms into functional statement pieces. Visitors will be invited to create pompoms under Karyn’s guidance.

Nelise Bey will introduce visitors to Shibori, a traditional Japanese resist-dyeing technique used to create patterned textiles through folding, binding, and compressing fabric before dyeing. During this Community Day activation, participants will learn the basics of Shibori by creating their own naturally dyed bandana using simple folding and binding techniques. The experience encourages curiosity, experimentation, and hands-on engagement while offering visitors a tangible introduction to textile traditions and natural dye practices

Taught two back to back workshops that day, bundle dyeing and shibori also had a table filled with all my wares.

Much thanks to Rebecca for organizing this amazing event!

Can't wait for the next one.

What if protection could be something you wear?

This May I'm hosting an intimate workshop where you will craft your own spiritual veil. Pure silk infused with fresh botanicals to create a wearable shroud of high vibrational energy and protection.

We'll be working with roses in all their colors, marigold, hibiscus, mugwort, and whatever else the season brings. Each plant carries its own spiritual resonance, and when infused into the cloth, that energy becomes yours to carry.

$95 · All materials included · Limited scholarships available · DM me to apply

Spots are limited. Drop a rose in the comments or send me a DM to reserve yours.

Wherever I am, whoever I'm with, if there's a park, I'm looking around.

Foraging has become second nature to me. In between conversations, walks, and ordinary city days, I’m scanning for what’s quietly growing around me.

Some puffball mushrooms were gathered in a NYC park. Most people pass through without noticing what these urban environments have to offer.

Slide 3: onions and freshly cut puffball in a cast iron skillet. A different kind of extraction. A different kind of transformation.

Slide 4&5: goldenrod upstate and rockaway beach

Slide 6-8: concord grapes and processing them for jelly 😋

For me, foraging isn’t separate from my studio practice. It’s about relationships. Whether I’m gathering plants for dye, tincture, or a meal, I’m always thinking about how materials move from landscape to hand and what they can become next.

The city can feed you if you’re paying attention!

**please use caution when foraging**
