Halle was arguably the Monster in Monster Ball. Not by action or identity but by Immaculate Performance. This performance was so powerful it earned her an Oscar Nomination & Award - The 1st Black Female Actress to do so Ever! When designing this Dress we didn’t want to take Halle’s body type or aesthetic but simply her impact in a very challenging Art Field, Acting, and her history being imprinted as the first Black Woman Ever to win an Award.⁣⁣

As a team collectively it took us 6 months of constant meetings & debating to Release a Women’s Piece. We wanted to be intentional with what Inspired it. After constant mock ups and samples we pondered and finalized on the Idea of a Dress. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Her success in this Film is what Inspired ENVY OF NY to instill a specific approach with our 1st Ever Women’s Piece. At ENVY we design for those Creatives & Dreamers alike, whether you act or embody a different talent. May our Sheer Dress allow all Women to know that their best Nomination is Dreaming and the best Award is Creating!⁣
