Marcus Garvey was a Jamaican born political activist, publisher, entrepreneur, journalist, and orator. He's made an impact on millions of Black people and has inspired countless movements around the world. To include Kwame Braithwaite and AJASS' Black Is Beautiful movement.

Marcus Garvey founded the UNIA (Universal Negro Improvement Association) in Kingston, Jamaica, In 1914 to promote equity for Black people, unity within Black diaspora, and self worth within the Black community. The UNIA is considered to be one of the most successful Black organizations in the world and claimed to have 1,000 divisions and 6 million members in 40 countries.

Martin Luther King once told an audience that Marcus Garvey "was the first man of color to lead and develop a mass movement. He was the first man on a mass scale and level to give millions of Negroes a sense of dignity and destiny, and make the Negro feel he was somebody."

Malcom X's parents Earl and Louise Little, met at a UNIA convention in Montreal, Canada, and Earl Little was the president of the UNIA in Omaha, Nebraska.

Bob Marley's song "One Love" is inspired by the way Marcus Garvey ended all of his speeches with the signature statement of "One Love". His "Redemption song" features a quote from Marcus Garvey, "Emancipate yourself from mental slavery... none but ourselves can free our minds". and in Bob Marley's own words said "Marcus Garvey is a prophet".

Marcus Garvey also created the Pan-African flag, which has given Black people around the globe a sense of pride for over a 100 years and inspired the flags of newly liberated counties in the African continent like Kenya, and Libya.
