I’ll be honest - I’m still trying to figure out God’s calling on my life and how to best serve others in my local community with my small business! I’ve been praying a lot over it recently, and I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to focus more on my crochet art and my booth at Essence of Energy in Buckhannon, WV.

You see… crocheting is what I do when life feels hard - as well as when it feels happy - and it has been bringing me great joy and comfort to design these unique boho bags lately! I love being able to make them right here at home and seeing how a customer lights up when she spots the perfect one for her at the shop.

These handmade bags are clearly making an impact on all of my friends, family, and neighbors here in Upshur County - so I’d like to continue creating them for a little while longer and seeing how it goes!

I'm learning how to steward Camden Creative Company out of love - and working out of love allows me to view my small business like a garden that I get to tend to a little each day.

Some things grow rather quickly (like the staggering amount of alteration requests I receive on a daily basis) and others more slowly (like consistently stocking my online shop with curated crochet supplies) - and some things need to be pruned altogether (like my Etsy account and anxiety over disappointing customers) so that the garden can remain healthy!

I'm deeply grateful to my local community for all of the patience and grace you have shown me as I continue to steward Camden Creative Company in a more loving fashion. Thank you all so much for giving me many wonderful opportunities to learn and all the space I need to grow as I continue to build this God-centered small business here in Buckhannon, WV!

Due to a personal situation, Camden Creative Company is temporarily unable to complete a small number of current alteration orders or accept new alteration clients.

Alterations will be offered again in the near future (and ran in a more organized and efficient way), and I will be reaching out to a few of my current customers as soon as I am reasonably able to do so. Locally-designed (and Appalachian-inspired) greeting cards and art prints are coming to Camden Creative Company, and you’ll be able to find them at Essence of Energy this upcoming Sunday from 12PM to 4PM.

This first collection of greeting cards stylistically feature important West Virginian insects, and the unique art prints showcase individual botanical plants native to the area! All products can be purchased individually or as discounted, cohesive sets.

ALTERATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT

Camden Creative Company has grown much faster than I expected, and I’m incredibly grateful for the support from this community! Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their garments.

Because of the high volume of alteration orders currently in progress, turnaround times are longer than usual while I work carefully through each piece. I kindly ask that customers avoid sending urgent or repeated messages about timing. I will reach out as soon as your alteration is finished and ready for pickup.

If you need your garment sooner than my current schedule allows, you are always welcome to pick it up unaltered. Thank you for your patience and for respecting the time and care that goes into quality alteration work!

Hi friends!

I’ve come to the realization that quite a few folks think Camden Creative Company is simply an alteration business - so I wanted to take a moment to clarify that...
..while I do offer select clothing and home decor alterations, I’m actually a Fashion Designer first and foremost! Camden Creative Company was always meant to be a creative studio - not just an alteration shop.

After designing women's apparel and accessories for nearly two decades (and sewing for almost three), I have so much more than just hemmed clothing to offer my local community!

As 2026 progresses, you’ll get to see Camden Creative Company grow into a place where sewing and crochet skills are taught, curated craft supplies are bought, and thoughtfully-made seasonal fashion collections are highly valued and sought after.

Here is a sneak peek sketch of a boho bag I’m making for Essence Of Energy’s first birthday celebration on March 15th.

In honor of such a meaningful milestone, these Camden Creative Company exclusive accessories will be offered at a very special CELEBRATION price during the event!

A select handful of these one-of-a-kind crocheted bags will be available for purchase (straight from their designer and maker) from 12PM–4PM at the shop that Sunday! Each piece is handmade locally by Jessica Forbes, consciously crafted from curated community-donated yarns, and genuinely unique - meaning no two are ever exactly alike.
