I had the intention to do lots of weaving during my vacation in December. Yet the time came and I needed a full break from both businesses. 🙂 Then came ripping up floors and getting new ones installed. Still have some things tore up but I was craving time at the looms. I currently have this pointed twill on the loom and some dish towels warp on another. Feels good to be back creating.

Winter has officially arrived here in Maine and it has been brutal the last few days 🥶 I’m FINALLY back to loom and doing another Tencel scarf with crosses and boxes. I know as a business owner I need to create color combinations customers want, yet I keep coming back to purple! I know so many women love this color, so I will rationalize this is why I have created another purple creation 😊

Spindles that go on this machine to spin the roving into single ply yarn. You saw the wool in bales in first post. It gets scoured, then the debris comes off on those machines on first floor. It gets blown up to this floor to go through a machine to make it roving. Then spun.

Went to one of the few remaining wool mills yesterday . Once a year they do an open house and tours. Some of the machines are from 1920’s to early 1940’s. I believe the owner said one was from late 1800’s! The engineering of creating these machines is mind blowing.
