There has been a great deal of discussion online recently about thrifting, specifically the lack of quality items that make it to the retail shelves. Most thrift companies now run successful websites that expose their stock to a worldwide audience. That’s good business for them but not necessarily for the local shopper. Managers are tasked with pulling any popular or valuable donations & placing them in the online bins which in turn makes it so those great pieces are never seen by in person shoppers. This practice has increased over the last 5 years to boost income & try to balance the increasing costs of staff, utilities, insurance & building maintenance. These days I occasionally thrift for display items like easels, picture frames & books but up until 10 years ago I was thrifting often & found real vintage & antique pieces to resell. I too think those days are over but I still hope to find a little gem from time to time.
Thought I’d share just some of the great pieces I’ve found in the past at my local thrift stores, for real- no kidding. I found all of these items randomly over several years & this is why I still drop by occasionally because, you truly never know!
SORRY ALL ITEMS HAVE SINCE SOLD!
