Six and a half years ago, my business outgrew my house and I opened the doors to Buffalo Seamery. I was nervous, excited, and honestly not sure what was coming next. And then, just 3 months later... the world shut down.
I spent the next few months secluded in my house, cutting up my entire fabric stash, sewing masks to donate to anyone that asked for them including nurses, vet techs, teachers, factory workers, retail workers, literally everyone from every walk of life. I made hundreds of masks and while I sewed I wondered how my business would survive the pandemic.
But THIS neighborhood? You showed up for me in a way I will never forget. When I needed it most, you came through and helped me survive that first impossible year. I would not have made it without you. Not even close.
When I announced my closing I was again nervous that I would have so much inventory left over which would be a huge financial burden for my business. This month you showed up again to help me clear out the rest of my inventory. Some of you came in 6 times to shop and I *SO* appreciate it! The store has been filled with stories, laughter, and has been pretty much a month-long neighborhood meeting because you all know each other!
What started as nerves so long ago quickly turned into one of the greatest adventures of my life. I got to meet the most incredible neighbors, watch this little space grow and evolve, and I became a part of this community. To give back to the neighborhood I added beautiful benches and gardens in front, and I cannot tell you how many times I have looked out the window and smiled watching neighbors sitting outside, laughing, catching up, taking a break from shopping, and just enjoying each other.
I watched babies become little kids and little kids head off to school. I got to be a small part of this neighborhood's story, and that means everything to me.
From the very bottom of my heart, thank you for six and a half beautiful years. I look forward to seeing you all at local artisan markets this summer! ๐โค
