October has always been a meaningful month for me.
I’m a breast cancer survivor, now 20 years strong, and I’m also a sister to Cindy, who lost her battle with breast cancer at just 52. Her 10 year anniversary is this month, and I think about her every day.
That’s a big part of why we continue the HER Story Bra Crawl. What started years ago as a small idea on the Elmwood strip has become something I look forward to every October — businesses coming together, getting creative, inviting people into their shops, and most importantly, giving back to women and families in our own community.
This year, with the help of we’re once again raising money for two local organizations doing important work right here in Western New York: +
These organizations support people living with breast cancer in ways that reach far beyond a diagnosis. They provide connection, resources, support and community when people need it most.
And that’s really what the Bra Crawl is about.
Community.
Throughout October, businesses across WNY have created their own one-of-a-kind bras — each reflecting their personality, creativity and a little bit of fun. Get out to the businesses, and see them in person and vote for your favorite.
